Star Wars Battlefront II - Release Notes - August Patch

Hi everyone,

Emperor Palpatine and Ewok Hunt are back! The issues that required us to temporarily disable both have been fixed in this patch. In addition to that we’ve deployed balancing updates to lightsaber heroes in Galactic Assault that should make them viable again. Give them a try and let us know what you think. We also addressed the stuttering upon hard-lock issue in Hero tw
Starfighters.

Finally we want to thank you for your patience while we were working on addressing these key problems! Your feedback is valuable to us so please keep sending it along as we continue to improve the game.

CHANGES

  • Palpatine has been added back to the game
  • Fixed an issue with Palpatine being very overpowered by restricting the angle from which the player could lock on with his lighting ability
  • Fixed an issue with Palpatine being able to lock onto targets through walls
  • Ewok Hunt has been added back to the game
  • Fixed an issue in Ewok Hunt where Stormtroopers were unable to board the shuttle
  • Rebalanced stamina for lightsaber heroes
  • Fixed an issue in Hero Starfighters on PC where players experienced a short stuttering before being locked on
  • Fixed an issue with Extraction where objective markers were misplaced on Kessel and Jabba’s Palace

    I just tried it, and made a clip. You can indeed spam the torpedo without recharge time.

    I'll make a bug report later if this is not intended - I doubt it is.

    Firing 3 is normal. More then that would be interesting. 

  • looks like there was also a fix for timed challenges - different ones are showing up now whereas the same ones kept showing up before

    Wow, 3 is normal? That's seriously OP. Even just one almost entirely destroys an X-Wing, don't even get me started on landspeeders & smaller crafts. It also seems much harder to dodge than a normal homing missile, but that might just be my imagination. (And you can't even dodge with many of the vehicles.)

    I always use the3 ion torpedo as it is almost essential on some maps eg. Hoth due to the heavy presence of turrets and starfighters. It is also an assistance in taking down walkers. if you can get  a consistent lock, yes you can fire 2 in rapid succession, 3rd takes a little longer but if the lock gets broken, you have to get another lock. I used to think that it was overpowered but after a period of time players have changed tactics and now it is more difficult to get the lock. It has made the strafing of ground troops by starfighters more competitive.

    3 torpedos are enough. Below is what is required to destroy enemy vehicles.if you get a good lock

    1 torpedo  -  Speeder bikes (Endor)  Turrets (unless at a distance where you may have to use all 3 because of inaccurate locking). Speeders on Tatooine.

    2 torpedos - Starfighters on any map and some armour. Speeders on Starkiller base (if you're quick) 

    3 torpedos  - Bombers on any map (have had to use sentry gun to complete on some) & AT-ST's

    These numbers will change if the target is already damaged. 

    The Torpedos won't lock on D-9 turrets on Hoth. Also, if there is a larger target near to your intended target the torpedo will deviate to the larger even if it is already out of play eg AT-AT's on Hoth. 

    Hope this helps.

    P.S. An ion grenade is more efficient but it is too hard to throw one at a starfighter (LoL)

    I must have completed "Wipe Them Out" 18 times now!  LOL

    Created a thread last week for the problem with the timed challenges. @EA_Ataashi said he would pass on the information to the developers but whether that will actually be done or make any difference to the issue remains to be seen.

    Would appreciate your support (and that of anybody else fed up with playing the same ones over and over).

    Perhaps we can get some traction behind it....
