Star Wars Battlefront II on steam not launching

So, I've been able to play SWBF II for quite some time now and it was just a week ago that I started having problems. With all the installations of kyber private servers and modding, I naturally wanted to get into it. After attempting to load into a modded server, to no avail, I did my own troubleshooting and found that now the game wouldn't even launch on its own. Basically, I press play on either Origin or Steam, the license is on steam, the game will show that it is running on steam for a few seconds, then I will get signed into origin where it pops up a blank screen with an error in the top stating that the store was opened in another application. Then my origin will reset and bring me to my games library. At this point, the game is no longer running according to steam. I'm not sure if it is a problem between Origin and Steam because Jedi Fallen Order has been working perfectly and that game I own on steam as well. I have deleted all mods and mod applications that I was previously using and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game 3 times. I've reset game folders, verified game file integrity, and ran just about everything as administrator. Does anybody know whats going on?

Is this a joke? The game is effectively broke at the moment. Why would you want to get into it right now?

If it's not a joke, there are multiple existing posts on your issue (like this one). You may want to give the forum a search.

  • @DarthFDG I Thank you for the reccomendation. I have been playing SWBF through thick and thin so I know whats up. I really just posted this to find a solution to my problem I haven't tried. Other forum's solutions haven't been working so far.

OK. Now that we're out of the mess we were in back then, it sounds like you're still having issues launching. Have you searched the forum for "steam will not load". One of the posts, as an example, mentions overlays.

In addition, you will see numerous posts suggesting you are really going out on a limb with mods. You may have an OS reinstall in your future.
