State of BF 2 and what this means for EA Credibiltiy?

Having played this title since pre release and even game testing it after a number of updates I think many will agree that the Development team got caught up spending time on less important items; especially towards the end of this game, and what we’ve been left with is less than what this game used to be.

Some front running issues I still see in regular gameplay, some newer players may not be aware of:

1.) Input lag & hit detection

2.) character imbalances

3.) Star cards that still don’t do what’s stated

I believe the developers meant well but even now there are so many head scratching questions regarding the handling of this game: Why was GG claw rush patched but Luke’s issues ignored? Why are some characters so imbalanced and broken while others remain underwhelming? Why did they Devs ignore ineffective star cards while at the same time swap other cards for, essentially, useless ones? Why did the Devs waste time on a low res port of Scariff rather than addressing concerns from these very forums? Why do we see inconsistent damage output on various characters and situations?

These and other questions make me really wonder what the future quality of franchise products out of EA & the development team mean in terms of good gameplay; or can we expect more of the same “quantity over quality” content?

Seeing as how this game was once in a better state, mechanically, versus where it is now makes me very skeptical that future franchise titles are going to be any better.

No, I don’t want EA to simply drop content as a means to cover the poor gameplay state; don’t give us Asajj or Ashoka all the while ignoring that Hann has more dodge, high, damage, and heavy crowd control or that Luke can spam any combination of actions and to deal damage while avoid taking it. .. I’d rather the Devs fix the real issues and consult with the community here on character balancing; when it comes to additional content, sure, make some; you can even charge for it. There are various ways of implementing righteous micro transactions that don’t make you look like pillagers.

All in all the developers and publishers have had an opportunity to better approach game direction to create a more balanced gameplay experience, not the inconsistency we have now and that says a lot, to me, about what to expect from future titles and where not to spend money.

I didn’t buy squadrons, didn’t even consider it. It may very well be great but the handing of Battlefront II, especially toward the end, showed me that I can’t really put faith in EA; and if I look at the comments on social media, these forums, and gameplay videos it’s clear the community isn’t happy overall.

@soapy_catusesThe saber throw is rather useless because of consuming too much force energy for something you can do with a force ability but better.

I wasn't talking about parrying though, I meant the sword combat abilities, you know, the special moves.

Most of them are rather ineffective because of what I've mentioned above.

What you say just confirms that, just spam parry, pure force attacks and the few saber abilities that don't literally invite the opponent to stun you.

  • @TRlALON  Yeah the saber throw I never used because it was incredibly ineffective on targeting, plus, I leaves you too exposed when multiple opponents aggro you.

the saber special moves really are useless, it feels like there were added as plugs to make the player feel like they’re earning progressive achievements, but in reality, when you play the game the instances where they work or are useful are less than moot.

parry IMO is ok but redundant. Some people like it and it’s easy enough to use. On harder difficulties the window is really short and when you’re facing multiple enemies parry isn’t really the smartest way to combat plus crowd control. Everyone in the game, including bosses, are overly susceptible to “slow” so I found it far more effective to slow either my opponent or one opponent and deal with another rather than parry.
