Supercharged Sentry - duration decreases way more than it should based on notes

Product: Star Wars Battlefront II
Platform:Sony Playstation 4
What is your issue related to? General
Summarize your bug Supercharged Sentry - duration decreases way more than it should based on the patch notes. Should be like a 13% decrease, but the time decreased about 50%.
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? MovieFan555
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Can you tell us the date (MM/DD/YYYY) that you saw the bug? 01/16/2018
What time did you see the bug? (HH:MM AM/PM) 08:00 PM
In what game mode did the bug occur? Galactic Assault
What is your time zone? PST - GMT - 8:00
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Go into any trooper game mode, and pull out Supercharged Sentry for the Heavy.
What happens when the bug occurs? The active time of supercharged sentry (not counting the startup time) decreased from about 8 seconds to 3.5 seconds.
What do you expect to see? I expected about a 13% decrease in active time, since the patch notes say the heat increased from .015 to .017 per shot.

AMD or Nvidia Model Number

The patch notes say that the heat on Supercharged Sentry increased from .015 to .017 per shot.  I would expect something like a 13% decrease in its active time.  However, its active time has actually decreased by about half -- from about 8 seconds to 3.5 seconds, if you don't count the startup animation.  I seriously wonder if there was a bug in the way this was implemented.  For instance, if a dev accidentally typed .027 (instead of .017) in the updated heat, that would correspond to a roughly 50% decrease in active time like we are seeing.

  • I completely agree.

As this has already been reported, I suggest you add your details to an existing post, so it gets more attention from EA/DICE.

I suspected that might be the case.  However, whereas I can easily find many forum posts on it, I couldn't find one in the Answers HQ bug reports, even after using the search bar.  I'll add onto an existing thread later if I find one.

Yeah, I wasn't actually considering it a bug, when I wrote my reply.  It's slightly unclear whether it's happening as designed (poorly) or not.

Assuming it's a bug, I believe this is one of the only bug reports so far, so let's go with it!  🙂

BTW - If you just use the regular sentry gun, it stays active I believe as long as it used to.  That's what I'm using for now, as I believe I'll be able to shred more people until they rectify the issue.

Alternative hypothesis: or I wonder if they set it to .017... but now somehow have it count twice.  (Maybe separately for the main shot and splash damage?)  If it did somehow become .034, I notice that the ratio between .034 and .015 is very similar to the ratio between the 8 and 3.5 second durations that we have observed.

  • Same thing has happens to me and I know it's gotta be a bug. I used my sentry and it lasted 3 seconds then another trooper showed up used his and it lasted double my time. But the explosive sentry still goes the full 6 or 8 seconds

Not sure if it's really a bug. I thought they did this to prevent people from using it to farm thousands of points in a few seconds in galactic assault by holding it on an ATAT or MTT

  • I think this is the better bug report on this topic, as the other threads sound more like players are just upset about a nerf, and this one clearly defines the nature of the bug and describes what might be going on.  I agree, although we were expecting a nerf on this weapon, the duration is so short as to make the card not worth using, which I'm sure was not the intent of the developers.

@MaddogMason666 Sure, it deserved a nerf, but it's unclear that they meant to nerf it this much.  Either the patch notes or wrong, or they bugged the actual implementation.
