Try to extend virtual memory (pagefile)
- sim28028 years agoSeasoned Novice
Might that be helpful? I have 16GB RAM and a AMD R9 290X MSI Lightning with 4 GB dedicated RAM. I think that will be a failure with the AMD Radeon driver. Am I able to extend the GPU RAM as well or do you think the problem will be the normal PC RAM.

Hi all, just hanging aroung with EA support. The technical guys just analized my DirectX Diag Report and they think, that the problem will be my GPU. The suggest a reinstallation of my GPU (so deinstall and install).
I will try and give you feedback
Well i don´t really know what is causing it because today in the morning and afternoon everythink worked fine no freezes at all. But now it started again. Freeze and crash without any error message.

ye, i have the same problem, and only in this game
@Jellowcanoo I am most likely going to just wait for the regular game release - the pure fact is, only this game is having problems. I play at least 4 other games all via different game companies, no problems... only problems is with this game.. hopefully they figure it out before launch, otherwise it would be like visiting a used car dealership lol
other than disabling Ambient Occlusion in game Video settings (at bottom), and reducing anti-aliasing and a couple other things mentioned in the link to post in this thread below.. - that didn't fix anything, just helped a little bit - https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/The-game-will-freeze-and-crash/td-p/6411563
I solved my problem of freezing and crashing by modifying my virtual memory assigned to Windows. It was set to a specified size, changing to have this file managed by windows my freezes and crashes disappeared
make sure to post your OS/ Vid Card - with a solution that way other's can find it specific to them too :D wish it worked for me as i had already done that too, you are supposed to increase pf 1.5 x - check out for the max and set max and min the same, usually it's 1.5x your actual ram/memory so 8k would be 12k (example)... (*EDIT - Update after reading more about pagefile 🙂 the 1.5x is more for older systems, check out pagefile educational links at bottom of this post)
Grats and wish mine worked too :P nvidia 840m - win 7 x64, although the trial is running at x32. After everything i have gone through so far, I am not crashing now, but still choppy play like a bad buffering video --
67 seconds from clicking start game in origin to game starting first vid intro
88 seconds from clicking start campaign to first vid scene starting
after playing 15 minutes - 165 seconds after clicking quit (to main screen) to reaching main screen - all load time..
side note - i think the lvl 3 difficulty should be level 2, and the level 3 difficulty should be 2x harder 😉
been about 6 months since i did a format and fresh OS install.. maybe i will do that to pass some time, while waiting to see if the early release is better than the trial release :S
down to 2 hours of play time left spent about 5 hours just troubleshooting and support stuff :S
may the force be with you 😉
*Edit - added pagefile info links:

Ok i will take this as done for now. We will see if they will find the solution and when they will release the game it will work properly. I hope. 🙂 I think the biggest thanks goes to @c2a2f2b7f1ca3466 who took so much time to find the solution and of course to everybody else who tried somethink to prevent this from happening.
Big thanks to you all and good luck in the Battlefront!!!

I have the same problem as you, but weirdly it never crashes while playing "Starfighter Assault" game mode
