I’m noticing similar instances but in most cases the dominating team is comprised of lower level characters not higher level.
This is one of the things I’ve been observing since TROS update.
more often I find myself in a match made squad of 3 lower levels and I’m the sole higher level; and often I’ll see that on the other squad; one, maybe two higher levels on the other team.
with the handicap on the higher level players if you’re using a higher level character and have a squad on the opposing team that’s lower level you will likely get steamrolled; easily!
If you have a lower level character you don’t particularly like use them and watch what happens ... killstreak galore!
Hi,
Either way, the matchmaking balancing definitely needs to be improved upon to make it fair for all players.
I haven't monitored the handicap, but thinking back to matches I've played, I'm beginning to wonder... There's been many times during a game where I've said, "what the bleep, that doesn't make sense," I've just been obliterated by a low level 1 who seems to be running, dodging and rolling much faster as though they were playing like an experienced high level player. At times like this I've questioned hacking in the game.
This would explain a lot when I'm playing on CS and GA.
If they solved the matchmaking balancing by putting a mix of 10 high level players on each side and a mix of 10 low level players on each side (these numbers will vary, depending on which game mode you play), this would improve things a lot, but there would still be an unfair advantage.
It's a great time to be a new player...
Frustrating to be a high level player...

Oh absolutely! Awful time to be a veteran player and great to be new!
I have been tracking the handicap, in great detail! That’s how I realized there was an issue.
I believe that the handicap was put in place to offset the poor matchmaking logic that’s always been in the game but that’s made the gameplay WORSE.
I have video of my level 260 Kylo’s “pull” ability used on a level 12 Annakin, showing as being in the AOE but the game completely ignored the ability.
They DO need to remove the handicap AND fix their matchmaking logic.

Hi,
Thanks for giving me xp, I’m giving some back to you.
I do have some low level characters, so just for fun and to experiment, I’ll try using them more often and see what happens.
Is this handicap the same with vehicles?
All the best
I’m honestly not sure because I don’t use vehicles very often; Star fighters I don’t use at all; and ground vehicles I only use rarely so they could have a handicap but since mine are lower level from low use I can’t tell as I don’t have a high level vehicle category.

Is there any official statement on "mechanical imbalance" the buff for low level players? Missed it in the patch notes, or?
If this is true for HvV, it most certainly applies for all modes and classes.
Hi,
I'm not sure about any official statements on "mechanical imbalance." I don't think that this is something that they would disclose. This is based on tests and observations conducted by VetteC5RX. I haven't conducted any tests myself, only observations, but it's obvious that things aren't quite right.
The matchmaking imbalance for example is so obvious and an absolute nightmare! This definitely needs to be improved upon.
The next time your playing this game, play from a games testers point of view and you'll start to notice things.
Hope that helps.

Well, I noticed that there are some very good low level players from time to time.
Thought it would be skill, cheating or bugs as usual. But I don't play much since a few month so I can't do statistics
@EA can you please give an answer to @VetteC5RX and our observations?
There were NO mentions of this in any of the patch notes.
yes, there are good, newer players. My observations focused on game mechanics and character attributes; not player style.
and, yes; I have observed differences across all game modes, however, most of my observations have been with HvV & HS.

please, please.

Good luck! I’ve posted multiple entries on these forums; sent messages to EA Starwars on social media, and messaged Ben Walke both publicly and privately about this very issue and got zero replies.
given that this wasn’t in any of the update notes and EA hasn’t acknowledged any of this as a known bug it leads me to “believe” that it was an intentional game mechanic change made to enable the Devs to pull in new players and allow them to level up on the backs of longer term players.
it seems more than just a coincidence that this was done with TROS update whereby the game Devs could capture some game sales with the release of the movie when the franchise is hyped.

Hi,
Thank-you for your effort in making this issue more public. The more publicity we can shed on this, the better our chances for change and for a fairer game for all players.
If they haven't responded, then it looks like they may have something to hide and are currently trying to figure out how to respond to this.
Unorthodox tactics, just for a few sales. If they want more money, I know exactly what they could be doing, but I wouldn't want to disclose all of my ideas here, not without a gigantic pay check.
I'm creating a new topic, "Execute Order 66! Remove The Spawn-In Timers" Have a look and see what you think.

@VetteC5RXthanks for your effort.
Did you test for a level cap up to which this works?
e.g.: Is it the same with level 3 or 13 or 33 VS level 342 or is there a notable difference?
@K4-Rox2 I believe that the handicap applies to levels below prestige but I honestly can’t tell precisely where they stop.
I would have to test a sub prestige level character all the way through being above prestige.
I have noticed a more balanced game mechanic interaction between my higher level characters and other above prestige characters but I don’t know exactly where the handicap applies or whether the handicap is tiered.
The only way to find that out for sure would be to decompile the PC version of the game and, truth be told, I have considered buying the game for PC as well simply do that I could attempt to decompile and identify those game aspects (similar to how others have done with GTA 5). That would take some time but it would be more conclusive than the evidence many of us are already experiencing.

Still trying to monitor this! Would be very curious to hear what they say. It sounds like stretch? But also not. lol I wouldn't put anything past them after the loot crate ordeal.

@jonnyboy705 Don’t hold your breath!
if the Devs wanted to discuss it they’d have put it in the patch notes! They’re going to ignore this; without response, mark my words.
The only thing I hope to accomplish is that if enough of us post about it and that we know; hopefully they’ll balance the game; remove the handicaps and employ proper matchmaking.
I’ve actually started writing to predominant YouTube gamers letting them know to help promote the issue.
I’m a bit heated over this! I’ve supported this game and the Devs since pre-release ... I supported them even when they had loot crates .. I supported them when everyone gave them crap about BF1 having no story; yet it’s players like myself and others who they literally slap in the face by making out gameplay experience almost unplayable?!? That’s wrong!
There are a ton of aspects to gaming that are up to chance and randomness; bugs, glitches, hardware, etc. I’ve been gaming nearly 30 years; I’ve seen it all. What I know 100% is that what we’re all seeing and experiencing isn’t chance or random; there’s a consistency to it; that’s by design, not bugs.
If EA can’t figure out the logic to fix this they’re more than welcome to hit me up privately! I’ll tell them what to do for free!
1. Remove player level handicap ... ensure that ALL player classes AND characters have the same mechanical stats! The only way players will adapt to the gameplay is to get used to the mechanics themselves. Variable mechanics that provide a handicap are going to bite lower level players as they progress and hit those handicaps; making them hate the game. Everything they have developed as a play style will be out the window. That’s inherently bad gameplay.
2. Input a tiered player quantity system whereby all gameplay modes can’t start with a tiered number of total players. This alleviates the problem of finding a full lobby of “equal players” .. more players can be added to the game (as happens now) so it doesn’t lock the gameplay
3. Adjust the range of matched rank players. ... With the various changes in gameplay mechanics over the years it’s not necessary to match a level 10 with say a level 8 or a level 12; even a level 40 is comparable as the only difference being star card buffs which have, themselves, been nerfed over the years.
The Devs are trying too hard to mold the game like it’s play dough ... new players to the game are encouraged to play the single player game modes to enable them to get a feel for how the game is designed to be played.
you can technically match make a player assault class level 10 with a level 40 provided both players understand how the game works. The biggest problem with the matchmaking is that the Devs have fouled with it so much the game is struggling to try and incorporate all of the variables; you end up struggling to put games together. They don’t need to overthink it; let players get used to the game ... this isn’t COD; players aren’t getting steamrolled by quick-scopes and shotguns; they’re getting steamrolled because of mechanics with poor logic.

Here's ANOTHER example.
In this video you can clearly see that Rey is within the AOE of Kylo's "freeze" ability and is NOT blocking. Rey should have been affected by freeze yet the game ignored it. Rey was striking with her saber when freeze was triggered; it's not even as if she was in the process of trying to block. This was 100% simply ignored. There's no stutter or glitching observed; the mechanic was simply ignored.
In order to see my opponents player level I activated "frenzy" to try and grab some game points and allowed myself to be killed, rather than flee, so as to be able to see Rey's player level ... As it turns out, she was a level 19 ... consistent with what I've been observing.

Hi,
Really great work in letting related You-Tubers know about this issue. The more light we all shed on this, the better our chances for change.
I watched the video clip and this happens frequently, especially on heroes vs villains. That's why a lot of the time I'm shouting out, "what the bleep..." It's just as well I don't use a mic. You didn't do anything wrong, the game mechanics just screwed you over...
It's annoyingly frustrating when things don't work, it's even worse when deliberate, unorthodox tactics are being used. A fair, playable game for all players is what we want and what we are asking for.

@lukeobionechew Yeah it really is annoying because the game has evolved over time whereby you have to be really attentive and on point with your timing to really use abilities and then they go and do this.
It completely screws your gameplay because you’re timing your moves and abilities, expecting they’re going to work, only to get * and screwed ... and you never really know when or by how much it’s going to happen.
Friday the 13th has more balanced and consistent mechanics than BF2 and that’s sad because that game was CHEAP! It was crowd funded and is less messed up than a front running title from a major developer. That’s embarrassing.

Hi,
@VetteC5RX I played CS today and my team was completely dominated. While playing the game I was observing the statistics of kills and points scored from each player on both teams. The majority of players on the opposite side had greater kills and score than that of my team, so the mean average was far greater than that of my team.
It seemed as though every player on the opposite side new exactly what they were doing.
Have you experienced a game where the mean average has been lower on your team and you have still won the game?
All the best
@lukeobionechew Ehh that’s a somewhat less specific observation than what I’ve been tracking.
the short answer to you question is, YES; I have been in matches where my team was absolutely steamrolled (HvV, HS, & GA).
The idea though is to go beyond that. Yes, there are some instances where players will rightfully smack my team with good gameplay; what I try to do is if I’m getting walked over is to look at “how” and “why”
predominantly the opponents are a lower level. I already established from closed testing that lower level characters have different attributes CONSISTENTLY. (greater mobility, higher saber swings or higher fire rate, lower blaster spread, greater dodge, etc). Once I was able to establish the consistent pattern with the lower players in closed testing then once I’m in a multiplayer open game and I notice we’re getting smacked then all I need to do is observe WHOM is doing the smacking ... almost the entire time it’s lower level players.
so yeah I’m seeing it too! If you’re getting smacked down try to keep an eye on the levels of the players who are beating you and if there’s a pattern. If you’re playing well and timing your movements, strikes, and abilities keep an eye on the attributes of your opponents ... how long it takes them to recover from a knock back or whether or not your abilities appear to get ignored vs your opponents. I bet you see the same pattern.
