Too many quitters for Heroes v Villains

Product: Star Wars Battlefront II
Platform:Microsoft XBOX One
What is your issue related to? General
Summarize your bug Not sure if it's a bug but people are constantly quitting out and not being replaced in H v V
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name?
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
Can you tell us the date (MM/DD/YYYY) that you saw the bug?
What time did you see the bug? (HH:MM AM/PM)
In what game mode did the bug occur? Heroes vs. Villains
What is your time zone? GMT (UTC)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Play H v V solo
What happens when the bug occurs? At least 60% of the time (probably due to new players) someone will start the game afk and quit out and then most the time it won't add a new player. Same with people who just quit out during the game
What do you expect to see? Someone added to the team to make it fair or a penalty for quitter
Please select your region Europe
AMD or Nvidia Model Number

I'm mainly posting this to see other players experience to compare, but maybe it's just the platform I play on and region.  As someone who plays mainly H v V since release these last few weeks has been crazy for people constantly quitting out and most are right at the start so you're left 3 v 4 right away and the game used to add someone right away almost but now most times it does not. Not saying it's a bug and could be due to lack of people playing but introducing a temp ban for quitters may help. Another solution could be to do what halo 5 does and have squads matching squads so it's not as bad facing a squad of 4. Not enjoyable playing a team of 4 a player down in the slightest

    @jonnyboy705  Don’t hold your breath!

if the Devs wanted to discuss it they’d have put it in the patch notes! They’re going to ignore this; without response, mark my words.

The only thing I hope to accomplish is that if enough of us post about it and that we know; hopefully they’ll balance the game; remove the handicaps and employ proper matchmaking.

I’ve actually started writing to predominant YouTube gamers letting them know to help promote the issue.

I’m a bit heated over this! I’ve supported this game and the Devs since pre-release ... I supported them even when they had loot crates .. I supported them when everyone gave them crap about BF1 having no story; yet it’s players like myself and others who they literally slap in the face by making out gameplay experience almost unplayable?!? That’s wrong!

There are a ton of aspects to gaming that are up to chance and randomness; bugs, glitches, hardware, etc. I’ve been gaming nearly 30 years; I’ve seen it all. What I know 100% is that what we’re all seeing and experiencing isn’t chance or random; there’s a consistency to it; that’s by design, not bugs.

If EA can’t figure out the logic to fix this they’re more than welcome to hit me up privately! I’ll tell them what to do for free!

    1. Remove player level handicap ... ensure that ALL player classes AND characters have the same mechanical stats! The only way players will adapt to the gameplay is to get used to the mechanics themselves. Variable mechanics that provide a handicap are going to bite lower level players as they progress and hit those handicaps; making them hate the game. Everything they have developed as a play style will be out the window. That’s inherently bad gameplay.

    2. Input a tiered player quantity system whereby all gameplay modes can’t start with a tiered number of total players. This alleviates the problem of finding a full lobby of “equal players” .. more players can be added to the game (as happens now) so it doesn’t lock the gameplay

    3. Adjust the range of matched rank players. ... With the various changes in gameplay mechanics over the years it’s not necessary to match a level 10 with say a level 8 or a level 12; even a level 40 is comparable as the only difference being star card buffs which have, themselves, been nerfed over the years.

The Devs are trying too hard to mold the game like it’s play dough ... new players to the game are encouraged to play the single player game modes to enable them to get a feel for how the game is designed to be played.

you can technically match make a player assault class level 10 with a level 40 provided both players understand how the game works. The biggest problem with the matchmaking is that the Devs have fouled with it so much the game is struggling to try and incorporate all of the variables; you end up struggling to put games together. They don’t need to overthink it; let players get used to the game ... this isn’t COD; players aren’t getting steamrolled by quick-scopes and shotguns; they’re getting steamrolled because of mechanics with poor logic.

  • Here's ANOTHER example.

In this video you can clearly see that Rey is within the AOE of Kylo's "freeze" ability and is NOT blocking. Rey should have been affected by freeze yet the game ignored it. Rey was striking with her saber when freeze was triggered; it's not even as if she was in the process of trying to block. This was 100% simply ignored. There's no stutter or glitching observed; the mechanic was simply ignored.

In order to see my opponents player level I activated "frenzy" to try and grab some game points and allowed myself to be killed, rather than flee, so as to be able to see Rey's player level ... As it turns out, she was a level 19 ... consistent with what I've been observing.

  • Hi,

Really great work in letting related You-Tubers know about this issue. The more light we all shed on this, the better our chances for change.

I watched the video clip and this happens frequently, especially on heroes vs villains. That's why a lot of the time I'm shouting out, "what the bleep..." It's just as well I don't use a mic. You didn't do anything wrong, the game mechanics just screwed you over...

It's annoyingly frustrating when things don't work, it's even worse when deliberate, unorthodox tactics are being used. A fair, playable game for all players is what we want and what we are asking for.

    All the best

@lukeobionechew Yeah it really is annoying because the game has evolved over time whereby you have to be really attentive and on point with your timing to really use abilities and then they go and do this.

It completely screws your gameplay because you’re timing your moves and abilities, expecting they’re going to work, only to get * and screwed ... and you never really know when or by how much it’s going to happen.

Friday the 13th has more balanced and consistent mechanics than BF2 and that’s sad because that game was CHEAP! It was crowd funded and is less messed up than a front running title from a major developer. That’s embarrassing.

  • Hi,

@VetteC5RX I played CS today and my team was completely dominated. While playing the game I was observing the statistics of kills and points scored from each player on both teams. The majority of players on the opposite side had greater kills and score than that of my team, so the mean average was far greater than that of my team.

It seemed as though every player on the opposite side new exactly what they were doing.

Have you experienced a game where the mean average has been lower on your team and you have still won the game?

    All the best

@lukeobionechew  Ehh that’s a somewhat less specific observation than what I’ve been tracking.

the short answer to you question is, YES; I have been in matches where my team was absolutely steamrolled (HvV, HS, & GA).

The idea though is to go beyond that. Yes, there are some instances where players will rightfully smack my team with good gameplay; what I try to do is if I’m getting walked over is to look at “how” and “why”

predominantly the opponents are a lower level. I already established from closed testing that lower level characters have different attributes CONSISTENTLY. (greater mobility, higher saber swings or higher fire rate, lower blaster spread, greater dodge, etc). Once I was able to establish the consistent pattern with the lower players in closed testing then once I’m in a multiplayer open game and I notice we’re getting smacked then all I need to do is observe WHOM is doing the smacking ... almost the entire time it’s lower level players.

so yeah I’m seeing it too! If you’re getting smacked down try to keep an eye on the levels of the players who are beating you and if there’s a pattern. If you’re playing well and timing your movements, strikes, and abilities keep an eye on the attributes of your opponents ... how long it takes them to recover from a knock back or whether or not your abilities appear to get ignored vs your opponents. I bet you see the same pattern.
