Upgrade from standard to Deluxe Edition

Hey there,

Sorry if the question has already been asked. I'm looking for a way to upgrade my BF2 Standard preorder to a Deluxe edition (for obivous reasons ;-) )

Since the payment has already gone through, I'm guessing I should go through a refund procedure but I cannot perform any action (cancel or refund or anything) from my "Order history" screen. I don't really want to spend time with people on the phone for something that seems quite basic...

(Or please juste add an upgrade option in the shop).

Cheers,

Le_Bothan

  • Hey there again @le_bothan

This is just speculating, but I think this may have to do with a Reddit scandal EA was in which made a bunch of people flood the EA Support in order to refund their preorder. Afaik you're supposed to be able to refund your preorder under normal means as many people have done so in the span of the last 24 hours.

Unfortunately I can't really say much more to this as a regular player and all. I would honestly contact the support again and get clarification about this as that just doesn't sound right to my ears that you'd be unable to refund your purchase. Especially in the event that you're going to buy the game again anyway.

If the order has already been completed and all, you should be able to refund that if it matches the Great Game Guarantee's requirements.

From this guidance (https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/account/returns-and-cancellations/) , these are the requirements:

    • Within 24 hours after you first launch the game
    • Within 7 days from your date of purchase
    • Within 7 days from the game’s release date if you pre-ordered

Are you able to refund your game from this page ? https://help.ea.com/en/refund/

If that fails, I would try to reach an EA Advisor at the EA Support and try to get yourself to a Live chat and ask them could you change your Standard preorder to a Deluxe one instead. I know it may be annoying, but at least Live chat is better than a phone call, right ?

    Here's a link to the support: https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/

From there, first from the top right, choose your region and make sure you're logged in. Then choose Star Wars Battlefront II from the list of games, choose your platform, choose 'Orders' as your 'Topic' and 'Cancel preorder' as your 'Issue' or alternatively 'Request refund' . Answer the rest of the questions and a blue button with "Select contact option" should appear so click that.

You should be given a choice for a Live chat. Remember though that your region does affect the choices given to you so if you are not given the Live chat option, try changing your region to something like the UK or the US. Be also mindful that today is Sunday, so the support crew runs with a skeleton crew due to holidays. It can be easier to contact them on a Monday but you can still try your best to contact them today.

If you need any further help contacting the support, please refer to this link: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/How-to-contact-an-Advisor-via-EA-Help/td-p/5650100

    Good luck !

EDIT: P.S: I totally agree that they should have a Deluxe upgrade available. I guess they didn't think it would be needed before the game is released as majority of people wouldn't think about upgrading their game before the actual release date.

Well... EA support really dropped the ball on this one.

I've reached the Live Chat Support asking to cancel my Standard Preoder and buy a Deluxe Preorder. They told me they weren't able to cancel my Preorder or rather Refund it before official Launch Day. Justification : "This is the procedure". In this precise case, that means I got exactly zero incentive to opt for Deluxe Edition (I was in for the 3 days early launch and won't take Deluxe Edition on official launch day, that just doesn't make any sense at all).

The only "solution" would be to buy Deluxe Edition (therefore temporarily buy the game twice) and cross my fingers to get a refund for Standard after launch day (and be handed another tour of support contacting, procedures and administrative stuffs). Also means I would have 60 € in the nature for several days. I just don't like the sound of it.

Given there was an open beta and an EA access demo, I'm not sure my request is so strange. Trying the game beforehand gave me the urge to get it three days earlier and upgrade my order. The same could apply to other customers.

If an official CM or Advisor sees this... please guys do something.

To be clear, is this for the PC version of the game?

    Well... that was something...

I contacted the Chat Support again. It didn't take 2 minutes for my Standard Edition to be refunded. Guess sometimes you need some luck with the choice of the Chat advisor.

Thanks @RedFoxxie for pushing me to try again ! I felt the same way about the harsh response possibly being somehow connected with the recent Reddit shitstorm. I just told the advisor something like "Cmon dude, I just want to throw you more money, let me !".

    Cheers,
