IMO, the damage is done. All turning off crystal purchases does now is keep people from being able to pay to catch up.
The time of this is horrible tbh. You've got everyone who didn't buy deluxe starting today and they were already behind. Now they can't catch up...
This solution is facepalm worthy.

It's already too late! Those that wanted to buy an advantage already have! Now since they turned off the crystals some people who bought a ton while they were around have taken advantage of a massive head start.. I started playing this during the 3 day pre-order early access and within a few hours of that launching saw many players with level 20+ card totals for heroes and classes alike! Now the rest of us can't catch those with 3 star or higher cards in every slot.. The damage is done already!I hear what you're saying, and I understand your frustration. But don't let that get in the way of just having good, old fun.
This game is a blast and I'm not very good, nor did I spend any crystals.
It's still usually only a handful who really go all out and buy everything. Most will buy some, to try it out; and the vast majority won't have bought anything.
There are plenty of crazy-skilled players who don't need purples to defeat the fully decked out players.
And even then, just having all purples doesn't guarantee a win. You'll get your * handed to you buy purples and non-purples alike, that's the game.
Bottom-line: try to play and enjoy; you'll probably have fun anyway; most matches you won't run into a bought-and-paid-for character. Don't let the anger consume you, it didn't do Anakin any good, I doubt it will you.

I bought $20 worth of crystals and am absolutely no further along in my progress than anyone else. Crystals only allow you to buy crates. And crates offer completely random - offten junk items that do nothing to make a powerful toon. They have a chance to reward a small amount of credits so unlocking Luke or Vader or Palp would be obsenely expensive. They give a LOT of vanity cards (like the voices and battle stances,) and few Star Cards, and when you do get a new Star Card it's level 1.
You have grind grind grind in PvP to get your Rank up. Only with higher rank can you upgrade your star cards using crafting parts. THAT's the big scam of this game - the path to advancement is via crafting parts, and this game rewards very few crafting parts. No amount of money can buy crafting parts. And the daily login reward gives you 5 crafting parts per.
- 8 years agoIt's true it's all random in the crates, but I guess I've been luckier than some with the ones I've bought so far. Bought the "starter" pack when it was still available and in addition to a couple of rare cards, you got 1500 crystals - with that I got some greens, another blue card some base Lvl cards and a weapon (s5 for the officer which is a kill x with class reward) but I also got 50 crafting parts a couple of times which really did give me a boost at the start with some early cards I could craft..
I've since gotten myself up to profile Lvl 15 and bought crates with credits several times plus unlocked a couple of heroes but never quite had the run of luck I had with those crystal crates..
If I could be that lucky with 1500 crystals what about those that bought the $100 - 12000 pack? Or a few of them?
Random is random true, but paying for those crystals sure had advantages - crafting parts, rare tier cards (that could immediately be equipped), weapons and the like. Trooper crates which give 4-5 items each time only cost 200 crystals while the others 120/100; a lot cheaper if you have 1500+
crystals than 4k/2.2k/2.1k credits each time especially when a decent game performance in GA gives 200-300 credits for a 10/15 minute time investment.
I do enjoy the game, despite its problems but those advantages, luck or no luck should NEVER have been able to be bought with real money, it should have been (& be) the same grind for us all.
