What exactly is 'defeating an enemy'?

So i just played a co-op game as a specialist trying to unlock the tusken rifle, now i solo killed at least 5 people on my own yet the counter says i only defeated 1 enemy...which is nonsense...so what gives?

How can you reliably keep count if the game wont do it properly?

    Are you talking about assists? If you’re firing on an enemy and someone else gets the last shot, the other person gets that kill. Assisted kills don’t actually count as your kill, but it does count as an elimination.

    Same here too. Since I haven't completed the Arcade challenges and kill milestones for some heroes I have been keeping count myself and the objective milestones do not seem to track progress correctly, tis frustrating but with the other problems this game has.... it's the least of my worries.

    I have all the milestones but the most recent "parting gifts", but yeah, in months past the fact that it doesn't track assists as half-kills or something really got my goat, especially in those final 400-kill gun upgrades.
