Im playing the game through steam using a valve index and the stars in the background are extremely low resolution. Just to be clear this isnt general blur, I have supersampling at 150% and 50% sharpening and everything looks nice and clear. the planets look nice and sharp, the cosmic clouds look good its just the main skybox with the stars.
Im not alone with this problem.

Probably needs the 4k skybox.
- 5 years ago@al_gilling having same problem, it's pretty rough.
- 5 years ago@al_gilling Yea, it's like they never put on a VR headset during testing. If there was testing.

Same here. Not sure if this is related to the forced motion blur but it's really distracting. Running a Valve Index at 120% SS.
- 5 years ago@al_gilling Yeah it's quite ugly.
I'd love to have a better "star box" than what we have right now...- 5 years ago
Star box looks awful just now but id be happy if they sorted out the VR performance as a whole first.

Yeah blurred stars doesn't feel like you are in space

There is an ingame VR resolution option located in the file C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\STAR WARS Squadrons Steam\settings\ProfileOptions_profile under GstRender.ResolutionScaleVR however im unsure if its better than doing SteamVR resolution. Biggest issue in my opinion is conveying this information and making it easy to know what is being changed/affected.

please add settings to set the skybox quality so it is best quality for hardware that is being used.

F12 is the hockey on Steam to take a screenshot.
using that you should be able to do a before and after. 😉

@Devs https://github.com/ValveSoftware/openvr/blob/master/headers/openvr.h#L2040
A solution for the Devs is to pull the projection matrices from the SteamVR/OpenVR API (don't delete any values/nulls), to get the dimensions of head and orientations of eyes. Checked, and you are not doing that properly right now, because we can reproduce misalignment of the viewports it by disabling PP on the headsets' end.
Both Index and Pimax use canted displays, and parallel projection to fix the offset, but it's no substitute. Quality suffers. That wasn't taken into account and will always lead to issues. Please pull the projections from the API, it's a pretty good fix.
<3 your game

I am using HP's new Reverb G2 headset and everything looks awesome except for the stars. They are a pixelated mess and totally break immersion. I hope higher resolution skybox gets added soon!
- 5 years ago@Omegasaur Very glad to hear that, I have mine on order. I hope it is worth the upgrade from my vive!

just +1: the skybox looks awful. needs higher rez, smaller darker stars. really nasty as it is right now...

Good point with the large stars. Maybe the image is just stretched out
