Audio Crackling/Stutter

Hi,

When playing Star Wars Battlefront, the audio always crackles and stutters. Whenever something is said over the radio, the voice is played extremely fast and nothing that they say can be understood. A constant crackle/fuzzy sound can be heard at all times, especially when music is playing. I have spent hours researching a fix or what could be causing it, but have not found an answer. Star Wars Battlefront is the only game that this occurs in. This is on PC.

Should mention that i'm using  an FX-8350 and an MSI GTX 970

Edit: Uploaded a video of the issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Bg-x1fBnY4&feature=youtu.be

This video only shows the crackling, not the sped up voices.

It's usually worse than it was in the video.

It essentially renders the game unplayable, it's the only reason I never play this game.

  • I have these constant clicks at least every second or so. It is present on the main menu as well as during playing. The audio seems to be played at correct speed, but samples are not played to the end, thus speech in cut-scenes, such as the tutorial, is cut off. I almost never hear the end of a sentence.

My AMD drivers are up-to-date (Crimson). I am using an external Firewire audio interface (M-Audio Ozonic) that performs perfectly in every game so far. (e.g. Star Citizen, Mad Max, Battlefield 3, Mass Effect 1-3)

Try this: first check if you have all sound drivers up-to-date; at control panel open sound configuration, select play tab, select which device you are using and change quality (at advanced) - from 24bits to 16bits, and from 48khz to 44khz, for example.

  • What headset are you using, for instance I use a Logitech G930 Wireless Gaming Headset, with wireless headsets you most likely will get this issue. There is really nothing you can do about it.

  • Had tried changing frequencies and bit rates already. No change after that.

I am not using wireless headsets. I have musical stereo monitors, a wired gaming headset and Hifi-Headphones.

Interesting enough, after the last game start without change in setup or configuratioon and even without restarting the machine, the sound issues were gone. I am trying to remember, what else I had changed in between. I have played a round of Star Citizen. Then I have installed "The Battle of Jakku". Maybe there came a fix with it.

Changing the sound quality had worked previously, but the problem has risen again. I believe it came back at the time i switched graphics cards, but i'm not 100% sure that that is the cause.

  • I have this exact same issue. I'm using a USB headset (Logitech G35), it seems USB headsets are encountering this "crackling, speed up sound" problem. I hope it will be fixed.

  • try olso maybe helps if u didnt try allready....go to sound/recording and on blank space press right click and show disabled devices and enable stereo mix
