Battlefront constantly crashes, AMD drivers up to date (15.12)

This is an AMD A10-7870K system running Windows 10 Pro. The game loads, connects, and plays fine for a round or two at most before crashing to the desktop. I see no error messages; Windows says it is generating a report but never gives me the option of looking at it. Right before it crashes, the sound stops working for about 1 full second.

I have graphics turned down to 720p / "low". The display and sound are both through HDMI to a television.

I have updated my BIOS firmware, applied all Windows patches, updated AMD drivers to 15.12, and I downloaded the game after the most recent patch was released so I got that from the beginning. I have also uninstalled / reinstalled Origin.

This is very frustrating... it would be one thing if it crashed but saved my progress, but each time it goes down I lose all of that round's progress so I am advancing very slowly and finding the process of becoming more powerful very difficult and discouraging.

Please help.

    Platform: PC
Issue: Game crash after several minutes of normal play; sometimes crashes to desktop, sometimes freezes and requires logout/login; no error message
Can you reproduce this issue 100% of the time: Yes
Details on how to reproduce the issue: Launch game, connect to match, play several minutes; reliably crashes

    DxDiag output is attached.

Before you installed the 15.12 driver did you do a complete clean uninstall of all your graphics drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) or similar?

    http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

otherwise it might be a graphics driver issue and I would advise you do it. Also, the 16.1.1 driver is out:

    1. remove all your graphics drivers
    2. reboot into safe mode
    3. use DDU to remove remaining driver components
    4. reboot into safe mode again
    5. use DDU again
    6. reboot normally
    7. install the newest driver from Nvidia.com

@Carbonic I did as you suggested, as well as disabled the Origin in-game interface (a suggestion I saw elsewhere). But after ~2.5rds of walker assault (an improvement!) it crashed to desktop again ☹️

One major issue I see in your DXdiag is that your R7 card only has 1GB of memory.  This game's minimum specs requires a 2GB card.

@TapouTony420 the APU shares system memory as needed (which is likely also why the gpu's builtin ram is only ddr3). And if that were the problem, I wouldn't expect to be able to play for 40 minutes before it crashed, I'd expect it to lock up as soon as I launched the game, as other posters on this forum with discrete cards having < 2GB ram have seen.

Have you repaired the game? Right click Battlefront in Origin and select 'repair game'.

@Fred_vdp I tried repairing the game this evening after the first crash. I want to say it went for ~1hr, maybe a little over, before crashing again.

The biggest change I've seen was after upgrading the drivers to 16.1 and turning off the Origin in-game overlay. I can't control drivers, but perhaps there's something else trying to pop-up from the system tray or something that I don't see til after the crash. I'm going to try running it in windowed mode, see if I can observe anything different.

Add Origin's Achievement popups to the list of possible culprits.

After about an hour of windowed play (ew) I saw a popup in the corner for an Achievement... I have never seen these in fullscreen, although I apparently have like 8 of them in the game. I turned off all notifications from Origin, but there is no option to turn off Achievement pop-ups. I went back into full-screen, and in the middle of a fairly outstanding round of Fighter Squadron it crashed again.

If anyone knows how to disable these please let me know.

The achievement messages use Origin's in game overlay feature to display the messages. If you don't use Origin in game you can disable it for each game or entirely for all your games.
