Battlefront Crashes on Launch

Yet another with this issue. I've tried everything I could find in the forums, as well as normal troubleshooting steps I've used to get troublesome games to work in the past.

Basically, the black screen loads, then a few seconds later, a small pop-up windows says: "STAR WARS Battlefront has stopped working".

Here is a screenshot:

In the application event log, this is the associated error:

OS: Windows 8.1

Sound: Logitech G35 headset

Monitors: 🏀 27" Samsung S27E510C LCDs

Here is my dxdiag:

Here's what I've done:

- Updated Radeon drivers (were already up-to-date)

- Installed Logitech G35 software (was previously using stock Windows drivers)

- Tried repairing game (rebooted afterwards)

- Tried running with -novid -noborder -windowed, and disabling Origin overlay

- Uninstalled/Reinstalled Origin (rebooted afterwards)

- Ran Windows Update

- Ran chkdisk

- Disabled antivirus

I really don't know what else to do, and I'm very... VERY ticked off. I have no problems playing any other game, many on max detail. Even other Origin games (eg: Titanfall, PvZ: GW, etc) work just fine.

Please help.

Turn off Enable Origin in Game in Origin's application settings. I have had the same problem with this game and the Battlefield 1 open beta and turning that off allowed both games to launch.

@R3mm1cK Hi, I wonder if you can try restarting with a Clean Boot and see if that'll let you start with Origin In Game enabled?

    https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/

Normally issues such as this are due to conflict with Origin In Game, and are often due to 3rd party overlays.

If you're happy to play without OIG that's fine too, it's up to you. 🙂

Hi mate, I'm happy to play without it to be honest. I find all of these in game options, including Steam and UPlay, offer no benefit to me really.

I'm just happy I got the games working again.
