Battlefront, GTX 780ti crash

Battlefront crashes after 5-25 minutes. Depending on the driver I get bsod, freeze or the directx function error (video card physically removed from the system).win 7 16GB ram, GTX780ti. I've had no problems in the open beta.

    Hey @Salmanasaar

    now we're getting closer!

This is a troublesome error that is not confined to this game or specific hardware. It is a DirectX error code that indicates a crashing of the driver. I have done some more research and have tried to collect all of the steps that people are reporting to have fixed this issue. One particular step I have seen but do not recommend is altering any video card voltages. Some of these steps are quick and easy, some require a little more effort.

    • Turn on vsync
    • Perform a clean boot before attemting to play the game Leave this out, since you already tried it.
    • Ensure you have power supply capable of meeting the demands of your hardware while it is under heavy gaming load
    • Perform a clean video driver installation.
    • Set all in game graphics settings to low in order to reduce the stress on your GPU.
    • Ensure you have hard drive space available for your pagefile. If your pagefile is set to 8GB and you only have 4GB free you may run into problems.
    • Set the high performance preset in your GPU control panel, as opposed to the high quality preset.
    • Run your video card at stock speeds (memory and core). This is also important for players with factory overclocked cards. This will require some third party software such as EVGA Precision or MSI Afterburner etc.
    • Set Windows power settings to High performance in the Power Options in Control Panel.
    • Also, beside High performance, click on Change plan settings, Change advanced power settings, in PCI Express and Link State Power Management change the Setting to Off.
    • Run the dxwebsetup to possibly fix corrupted DirectX files. Do not do this unless you have attempted all of the previous steps.

I will link this post from the official nvidia forum, it is not the same error but it is a driver crashing type of issue and the points mentioned there are all relevant to the DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED error message.

It is unfortunate that there does not appear to be a one shot panacea available for this error message and that each player will have to perform some methodical troubleshooting in order to eradicate this issue.

I will mark this post as the resolution to bring players attention to it and will monitor it in the coming days to see players responses. Please post and let the community know which if any of these steps have been of benefit to you.

    Cheers,
    Val

  • Hello, there! Did you overclock your graphics card? Frostbite 3 is not too friendly with overclocked cards resulting in crashes and a DirectX error message.

I haven't overclock it. And as I said, the open beta worked flawlessly.

Tried to disable Origin in game? Or any other kind of overlay?

    Hey @Salmanasaar

can you upload a DxDiag report for me so that I can take a look at it and get you out there fighting the empire/rebels again?
How do I gather DxDiag information?

To gather a DXDIAG on your computer, please follow the steps below:

    1. Press and hold the Windows key and the letter R on your keyboard
    2. You will see a Run box in the lower-left corner of your screen
    3. Type dxdiag in the text field
    4. Click OK
    5. If your computer has a 64-bit version of Windows, click the button Run 64-bit DXDIAG (see screenshot below)
    6. If your computer has a 32-bit version of Windows, that button will not be available

Please tag me with @EA_Valgard when you reply. =)

    Hey @Salmanasaar

I just checked your DxDiag file, thanks for providing it. 🙂
Apparently I wasn't able to see any wrong configuration or errors in it.

Could you please check for me, if...

    • ...Origin is up to date?
    • ...Battlefront is up to date?
    • ...graphic card drivers are up to date and properly installed?
GeForce Experience is great for that!

If you answered with "Yes!" to all of those questions, please perform a clean boot

----- Note: I took those steps from the Microsoft site I linked above and can't guarantee for them to work or not to harm your system. -----

    Notes

    • You must log on to the computer as an administrator to be able to perform a clean boot.
    • Your computer may temporarily lose some functionality when you perform a clean boot. When you start the computer normally, the functionality returns. However, you may receive the original error message, or experience the original behavior if the problem still exists.
    • If the computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps. We strongly recommend that you do not use the System Configuration utility to change the advanced boot options on the computer unless a Microsoft support engineer directs you to do this. Doing this may make the computer unusable.

Follow the following steps to perform a clean boot:

    Spoiler
    Windows 7 and Windows Vista
    1. Log on to the computer by using an account that has administrator rights.
    2. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press Enter to start the System Configuration utility.
Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, you should type the password or provide confirmation.
      A screenshot for this step.
    3. On the General tab, click the Selective startup option, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box. (TheUse Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.)
      A screenshot for this step.
    4. On the Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.A screenshot for this step.
Note This step lets Microsoft services continue to run. These services include Networking, Plug and Play, Event Logging, Error Reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you may permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use the System Restore utility together with existing restore points.
    5. Click OK, and then click Restart.

After you finished the steps above, please try again to start Origin and Battlefront in the clean boot environment and check if it still crashes and report back to me with the tag @EA_Valgard so that I'll get notified. =)

    Cheers and good luck!

  • Origin and battlefront are up to date, the graphics card driver has been correctly installed. The clean boot hasn't helped much. I am stil getting the ctd + Diretctx Error "Video card has been physically removed from the system"
