I have read how other people just plug in the exact same joystick and it works immediately, but no matter what I do, I can't get my joystick to register. I'm not sure exactly what the issue is, but I have tried to change the controller setting in Steam to no avail. In the overall controller settings on steam the joystick is recognized, but within the specific controller settings for the game it isn't recognized, and within the game itself the joystick doesn't register.

To add my context, I have the Logitech Force 3D Pro which is a close brother to the Extreme and I am using the Origin version of the game and I do not have this issue.

I have tried all my usb ports and none of them make it work. I've used my joystick with X-Plane 11 and FS2020 with no issues. Like I said, my computer and steam recognize that I have a controller plugged in, but the steam game settings and game itself do not. I have also plugged in an xbox controller and my steam controller and both of those work and give me the option to choose between them or keyboard and mouse. Still nothing comes up in except keyboard and mouse when I plug my joystick in.
