One fix worked for me: Exit the logitech profiler. It worked then.

What were you doing when the bug occurred? Step by Step detail is helpful. Any time the primary weapon if fired, the stick X and Y controls are ignored ("zeroed") and the ship will only fly straight forward until the stick is released and then moved again.

This makes the game unplayable since you cannot shoot and fly at the same time
I am wondering if this also happens on the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro since they are nearly the same stick?
Uninstalling the Logitech Game Profiler software corrected this problem.
