Buttons on Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Do Not Function

What were you doing when the bug occurred? Step by Step detail is helpful. I was playing in story mode, when asked to target a ship using button 2 on my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick it wouldn't work.

How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
How severe is your issue? Can play, but it's highly frustrating
What happens when the bug occurs? nothing
What do you expect to see? the buttons working

What components were you using? Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick controller

 I was playing in story mode, when asked to target a ship using button 2 on my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick it wouldn't work.  Further investigation showed that other joystick buttons do not work in game. Buttons 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 do not work for me anywhere, in flight, in briefings or in the menus. I tried mapping the buttons to keyboard commands and even those wouldn't work something is preventing these buttons from working in game. I tried changing USB ports and had the same issues.

    @ssabraham The joystick will work but not the force feedback function on our stick. I was hoping it would work also, but not too surprised on such an old kit

    What were you doing when the bug occurred? Step by Step detail is helpful. Using Logitech Extreme3DPro Joystick. Intermittent issue where top hat LD D and RD (Bottom 3 directions) quit working, as well as #2 Button stop responding might be other ones too.

    Intermittent issue with Logitech extreme 3d pro joystick. Bottom 3 directions on tophat and thumb button 🏈 stop responding not sure if its hardware or the game causing this. I do not have the Logitech software installed for controller management. Windows game controller properties is also not recognizing the buttons with the issue. if i calibrate the joystick the buttons start functioning again, makes me question that its an issue outside of the game. I have been playing squadrons since release and this problem has only developed in the last 2 weeks or so joystick is less than a year old and hardly used prior to this game being released (doubting its 'worn out').
