  • has anyone tried out OTHER VR games ? or played VR stuff recently ?

After I got back to VR with my Quest on my RTX2070S and had these issues with squadrons, I noticed that all other VR games start to stutter after 5 minutes into the game, just as squadrons does.

I rolled back nvidia drivers to previous versions I had in times of stable VR, didnt help. Even if it did, Squadrons doesnt run with these old Nvidia drivers.

There is an application called opencomposite, allowing games to be played without SteamVR ( I have squadrons bought at STEAM ).

It doesnt support Squadrons, but other games, and the stuttering appears as well, so I tend to claim its not STEAMVR related.

Disabling aynchrononous WarpSpace with Oculus Debug tool didnt help as well.

The devug tool also states that despite the stuttering there are no frames lost.

I wonder what could cause this problem. Some Windows 10 update from the last 3 months ?

Tried it with Half Life Alyx for 20 mins no issues.

Nvidia drivers updated today to another new one and Oculus Link 21 is downloading now.

Windows 10 was already on 2004 update.

Will try Star Wars again after that installs.

  • Same issue with Quest Link 21.0 and new patch for me too if i press the pass through its ok for a min or 2 then happens again. If i quit to game menu and restart its ok again for about 10 mins.

Other games a re fine tried several.

    Shame ☹️

    Sort it out EA!

Edit : Messed with Virtual Desktop tonight the issue was there but not half as bad.

I have the original VIVE. The only other game i had stuttering in was No Mans Sky. Everything is smooth until I look around. Then anything in the foreground like a menu or inside the cockpit has a "Stutter / Ghosting" making this game unplayable in VR unless i Never move my head to look anywhere. I have tried every "fix" people have suggested in multiple forums with NO improvement at all. Funny enough, When i first started to play the game in story mode, the first mission was smooth and after that, it was stutterville. Same goes for multiplayer. I didn't buy this game to play it outside of VR.

  • I had some time to tinker with the game. I did the following steps and stuttering seemed to have been reduced significantly following the last one:

    1. (probably helpful) Used oculus tray tool to raise the priority of Oculus Link processes: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/oculus-traytool-download.html

    2. (probably not-helpful) Cleaned the Origin cache: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

    3. (definitely helpful) starting the game in windowed mode & after toggling VR *turning-off* the computer screen.

Hope it helps you as well!

Tried that fix, seems more stuttery to me. Plus it caused my menu to dissapear completely.

Thanks for giving me something to try at least.

  • Having the same issue. Runs fine for the first ten minutes or so. When I move my head in VR the screen is black and takes a second to “catch up”. Restarting the game makes the problem go away temporarily.

Running an Oculus Quest with a 2070 GPU. NVIDIA drivers are up to date. Please fix!!

  • Did anyone ever find a proper fix for this? I'm experiencing the same issue where the game runs fine for 15 minutes until cockpit and menu jitter starts. Toggling VR on and off fixes the issue for another ~15 mins.
