Double vision on PC quest 2 with Link cable

I'm having an issue when trying to run Squadrons in VR from a PC to an oculus quest 2 with link cable.

I'm using the origin (non steam) version of the game and I can launch and get to the character select screen - this is in VR mode. Then from the intro movie onwards I get horrible image distortion which I can only describe as double vision. It looks as if the image from each eye is much too close to the screen, so in effect I see two images badly overlapping.

I'm using an AMD machine with an RX590 - so not a super card, but plenty to run all other VR games.

Any help would be gratefully received.
