Fallen Order is essentially unplayable on PC

After getting to Bogano, the game just crashes and crashes.

I have repaired and repaired. Turned off full-screen optimization, run as administrator,  uninstalled GeForce Experience, turned off Game Bar, Set power optimization to maximize performance, and texture filtering to performance in the Nvidia Control Panel, but Fallen Order just keeps crashing on my Alienware Aurora R4 system with an i7-3820, 16 GB RAM and GTX 970 at any video performance level.

The crashes range from game freezes to BSOD's to the system just turning off and resetting automatically, to just turning off, and the funny thing is that it's different error codes all the time mostly, too.

I'm going to beg for my money back from EA Origin.

And the game mechanics weren't really too good, in any event. The lightsaber effects in combat were stylized swooshes and slashes and either left the bugs or baddies dead or you, but with no real cause/effect relationship there except if you tried it again, pretty much exactly the same as far as moving and clicking a mouse goes, and this time you'd be the victor.

Maybe that's OK for console-gaming, but not good enough for PC games, I think.

  • That sounds awful, it sounds like you are having a rough time of it, a lot of people have had some similar difficulties, check out this thread, you might find some other helpful fixes - most of these SWJFO's tech problems appear as graphics hiccups, but they come from CPU and HD troubles. Acronis software causes serious problems with SWJFO, and there is a fix if that's something you have installed. I also found that I get extra stuttering when my PC is playing in single monitor mode - I change it to extended (multi-monitor) but it's just plugged into a 2nd input on my monitor.

As far as gameplay goes, looks like it's really not functioning right for you based on your description. This is more like what you SHOULD be seeing:  https://youtu.be/QLomXVTwEMY?t=84

    Good luck.
