i had a few ideas. new hero, now that cal is a jedi, maybe female one. or choose your gender at start, like Ac odyssey.
the new one might have a different droid, able to speak, and more cynical, that they repaired as early part of the game. then discovered, and helped by cal and the team to escape. cal then has to go investigate one thing, while you do a bit of training in a temporary hideout, before going to investigate related things the empire is looking for, so cal comes up with leads and you get communications which send you to try and retrieve things before imperials get them. this would allow more ancient dungeon exploring, as well as infiltrating enemy facilities to recover things.
but the mmo thing i really want now. destiny 2 used to be my go to game. it used to be great, a looter shooter where you worked on your gear, and the story was engaging, but they decided on something stupid recently. bearing in mind this is a game where your character isnt the focus, its your gear makes the character, and influences the playstyle when not using the super abilities, they decided to sunset gear. basically, bungie decided every few months when a new season begins, the gear is trash and wont handle the new power level monsters, forcing you to dump everything. the masterworked gear you had is no good so has to be junked, losing all the time and effort and materials because when dismantled you dont get it all back, and if you have to infuse it into new gear to get it so you dont lose power and make things even worse, you get nothing back. which is madness in a game where your character IS the gear.
their argument was that a few people had never changed gear in years. clearly the idea that just maybe some people LIKE that gear and dont like all the trash drops they give for other gear didnt occur to bungie. not only does the new system make the masterwork and upgrade system pointless waste of time, it also makes kill trackers on weapons (which i like) pointless since even exotics get sunsetted.
given bungie has just destroyed the entire basis on which their character development lies, and jumped off a cliff with disposable gear that means you cannot coordinate a good look just wearr any old tat that dropped to be able to play, there is now a HUGE gap in the market.
if star wars had a similar looter shooter to destiny 2 (anthem i havent played, the concept seems a little too like titanfall crossed with destiny, and i heard bad things about it on launch, so i doubt that can fill the gap made when i uninstalled destiny 2) i would play that as my main game. a game where there were several planets to go to, where you had choice of a jedi type character using light saber and abilities, or a shooter with guns and other list of abilities, able to use controller or mouse keys as you prefer, with non-mandatory pvp you can dip in when you want separate to the main game, public events where you dont need to form a fireteam to take part.
i have heard the issue with such a game is frostbite cannot handle map changes seamlessly. destiny handles travel by loading a small 'transit' area between populated maps - the transit area is quick to load, but while fully looking like part of the map, there are no players, enemies or items to interact with in the transit maps. you sometimes see people spawn as they zoom past to enter or exit the populated areas. same thing happens entering 'dungeons' (or lost sectors in destiny terms) - the entrance you actually leave the map, have short walk down a tunnel with some twists and turns which gives time to load in the lost sector map. very occasionally, there are places where it doesnt load fast enough.
titan is one place in destiny, you often get 'loading' and freeze briefly if riding a sparrow between the two maps. otherwise the system works well, and hopefully they can find a way to implement the instancing in frostbite and make a star wars themed version of destiny 2. i havent begun to talk about the 'strikes' and 'raids' because i stopped doing strikes and matchmade team content when bungie decided to ban not just cheaters, but everyone who happened to be present as well. raids you had to find a group, and they were not matchmade, but i thought they were far too long and complicated anyway for me and had no real need to do them, since being in a clan meant i got some raid gear as rewards anyway.
thats what i am really hoping for - not an exact destiny 2 clone, but something for star wars that plays like that - where you land on a planet and can see other players, join in defending an area against an enemy event of some kind, that has a storyline you can follow - and replay when overlevelled, which destiny never allowed.
of course i am greedy too so i want a fallen order sequel on top.
