I am for DLCs - and tell you why!

I applaud EA's new policy of bringing complete games to market. Still, this game is screaming for DLCs!

Who wouldn't want to fly Vader's spaceship or the Millennium Falcon? Who wouldn't want to race across the plains of Hoth in a snow speeder or relive the "historic" battles of the Star Wars saga in space?

As Anakin Skywalker at the Battle of Corruscant, as Luke Skywalker fly the attack on the Death Star? Or doing the Kessel - Run of "Solo"! Being part of the battle at the end of "Rogue One"! And - again - as a Snowspeeder Pilot in VR flying against the AT ATs! Would be GORGEOUS!

Many more maps would also be nice, which would show us even more of the enchanting beauty of space.

In-game purchases and "pay to win" are immoral, but DLCs are each player's choice. They would be unnecessary but possible. I would be for it!

I'd like more content too and a paid for DLC seems the best worst solution to this. The concerns will be that it will split the player base but hopefully cross-play mitigates this. I think the best option though would be one big DLC release instead of 2 or 3 smaller ones like they did with Battlefront 2015. That would ensure that the potential player base split only happens once rather than incrementally as more DLC releases. So more of a one off charge than a season pass, with perhaps the promise at a later date of more cosmetics or different ships ( a B-wing would be awesome!) somewhere down the line. As the game was relatively inexpensive compared to other releases I'd hope that people would be open to DLC at circa £15. I'd vote for a version of the Death Star attacks from Ep4/Ep6, the attack on the shield from Rogue One and then the battle of Jakku which very much fits in the timeline of the story (and was fantastic in the story mode of BF2). I know the politics of this will be difficult for the developer which is a shame, so perhaps if they had a vote on the forums here and elsewhere to see if people would want it (and the likely timescales if voted for) then that might ease the situation somewhat.

I don’t want any of those, I want to be me in my ship, not an established character in someone else’s ship.
However, yes, we need DLC, more ship and pilot customisation and more maps

I would be for the B-Wing, TIE Avenger, and TIE Defender. Assault Gunboat would be welcome too, and the Z-95 Headhunter.

The best way to do DLC would be a second campaign, early access to new online modes, and new exclusive cosmetics. The modes would be available to everyone later, new ships and new unlockable cosmetics (maybe even new ship parts) should be free for all.

@google1701 I tried to reach out to EA, but no clue how to suggest a feature request.. but here's something their corp execs should seriously consider:

When Hasbro floated the idea of building a huge Unicron toy, they knew they'd never be able to build it at a reasonable commercial point to make it profitable. So they did their own HasLabs (kickstarter type) to see if enough people would fund it. It had to reach a certain goal in order for the project to go forward, and it succeeded. They also did this with a Star Wars The Vintage Collection Jabba's Sail Barge (The Khetanna) toy. Both succeeded in funding and went on to be built.

EA needs to create their own EA page where they can float ideas, and IF it reaches enough backers, it gets funded! That way, only the best ideas the community wants get moved forward, and these DLC's add value to the base game.

Further, because you have to reach a specific target goal, you also get an immediate idea of how big a player base will be for that new piece of DLC. Obviously you don't want to release DLC where only a minority of users buy it, fracturing the playerbase. A minimum threshold of the community would be required to back the funding in order to proceed with the creation of said DLC.

I really wish EA would do this. Imagine if they submitted maps for the Dogfight - Yavin (w/SD1 approaching), Fleet Battle - Endor (bring down the Eclipse), Fleet Battle - Scariff, etc... and if the fanbase is there.. they will fund these DLC's.

I could support dlc if it was for single player or coop modes. Re-enacting some of those epic battles in VR would be fun. DLC for mutiplayer would split the player base, and be counter productive to cross platform play. People would pay good money for a new campaign. The feel of the game leaves most wanting more.

Oh agreed. DLC and Expansions for single player storyline, campaigns, and so on, are a great example of additional paid content. Any ships, ship components, cosmetics, maps, and other such items (even if created with paid single player content in mind) should be made freely available on the multiplayer side.

Lowballing my hopes for an expansion pack: B-Wing vs TIE Brute.
In this iteration the 2 ships are "Assault" class, and both get to take a second "primary" weapon instead of 2 auxiliary/missile weapons.
The brute gets the second laser weapon on the turret, to offset poor agility. In this iteration, I am assuming some artistic licence on the brute, giving it the standard TIE lasers in addition to the heavy cannon turret.
Alternatively, B-Wing vs XG1 Starwing. Imps get a shielded fighter and in this iteration, the 2 ships are "gunboat" class, and can unload their missile ordinance in a rapid volley, but will need constant resupply to stay effective.
Or, B-Wing and Tie Defender as single-player only, and go ham with their OP nature. TIE Defender gets shields, Interceptor handling, 4 lasers, 2 ion, cluster missiles and tractor beam. B-Wing gets twin autoblasters - basically the interceptor's rapid fire gun option, 3 standard laser cannon, and a heavy ion cannon, proton torpedoes and composite cannon.
In any iteration, I'd suggest the B-Wing can pitch twice as fast perpendicular to the main "wing" and the ship rotates to bring the wing into alignment with a turn. so any combination of yaw and pitch would move the wing, while roll inputs only roll the cockpit in it's gyro.
Later on, individual ships like the TIE Avenger, Z-95, ARC 170 or t-70 and First order TIE's would be awesome as well. Honestly, even a pack of single-player only ships for building a fully fleshed out continuation of the campaign to pay homage to the campaigns of the X-Wing vs TIE Fighter series

Perhaps they could go for a "Scum and Villainy" 3rd faction option, with Mandalorian fang and Gauntlet as the interceptor and support, respectively?

Absolutely, paid DLC in the model of 2 or 3 expansion packs would work great here. I'd go further and suggest the best way to format these would be each being it's own campaign which adds maybe a new ship or two on each side, new maps, new capital ships and a much of singleplayer missions, these don't need the level of cutscene polish the main campaign had which should keep costs down. Alongside that a free update would be made that added just the ships and maps for multiplayer use. That way you recoup the development cost from people buying the DLCs for the mission content but you don't split the multiplayer player base.
Adding and expanding on game modes, making single player available in coop and generally improving and adding to the mechanics could all go along with these free updates with paid DLC campaigns funding them. Best of both worlds. Frankly if Motive don't want to do this I dare say a small indie dev could be found who would jump at the chance,
