If no DLC - Requesting traditional Expansion pack (eg. Balance of Power)

I understand if SW:S was initially set to be a trial balloon floated by EA/Motive to seek low risk/reward in case it failed. EA would be cautious after multiple mishandlings of the SW IP in it's first few outings. However, i think they underestimated the overflowing love people have for the OT, and all the old school flight sim pilots of yesteryear waiting for this very game to arrive! Of the top threads in all the forums, the request for additional DLC appears to be overwhelming.

Still, in order not to mess with core game, maps or game mechanics too much, I would propose EA/Motive go old school again and create an Expansion pack (requiring the base game obviously). This is what i would propose for the expansion:

  • Expansion priced at $25 - $30
  • 4-6 hour campaign (50-75% length of original)
  • Would encompass the time between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi
  • Possible campaign missions (and multiplayer System maps)
    • HOTH - Small contingent of Rebel starfighters clearing out Imperial fighters over Hoth while the planetary ION cannon disables orbiting ISD's. Need to ensure all Transports are away
    • ASTEROID FIELD - Make up any reason to have a dogfight within a random floating asteroid belt, and lets see if C3PO's 3720 to 1 odds pan out! :D
    • KOTHLIS - Fly as the Imperials attacking the Bothan colony with orders to allow the ship with the 1 Bothan spy to escape, providing the location of DS2 to the Rebellion, so we finally understand Mon Mothma's 'many Bothans died to bring us this information' from RotJ'
    • ENDOR - This is a given. Very much a Fleet Battle-esque finale to the campaign, with the Death Star far in the background, you need to buy time for Admiral Akbar and the the scout team on Endor. Concentrate all fire on that Super Star Destroyer...
      • Multiple shield generators need to be destroyed prior to attacking the Bridge
        • Rebels have 2 support Corvettes and 1  modified MC80A Home One Type Heavy Star Cruiser (Home One/Akbars ship)
        • You have 15 minutes to destroy the Executor as the Death Star fires every 5 minutes, targeting each Corvette before finally blasting your cap ship for a losing condition
          • Destroy the SSD and you get to see it crash, and get to hear the radio comm chatter of Lando and Wedge. Plus you get to watch DS2 go boom.
            • (maybe it's too much to ask, but maybe we can get to fly into the DS2 superstructure as a bonus training mission to see if you have the 'skillz' to navigate that harrowing nightmare and see if you can fly your way into the main reactor.. and get out alive!)

I'm sure with just those 4 systems you could easily get 4 hours worth. Throw in another system or 2 with some call outs to 'Legends' battles within that era to officially canonize them into the Disney lore as well. And with all of them as multiplayer maps would increase online engagement!

New Multiplayer mode - Base Defense (if still using 10 players as limit)

  • 6 on 4 (or 7 on 3, find the right balance)
  • Cap ship with crippled Hyperspace drive - Attacking ship is trying to destroy it within 15 minutes / outgunned defending team must do all they can to prevent it
    • Cap ship will still have turrets, shield gen, etc, to help soften up some of the fighters

This would also be a good chance to add in 2-3 new ships per side as well. I know everyone here is clamoring for Bwings. Draw from the previous games for inspiration. Z95 Headhunters, Assault Gunboats, TIE/Advanced, etc. Also a good change to bring in a lot of cutscenes including Vader and Thrawn. Who DOESN'T want to see more of these 2 in SW media?

I think an Expansion to SW:S would be well received by everyone and show you that this IP is a license to print money WHEN YOU TREAT IT PROPERLY! SW:Jedi Fallen Order and SW:Squadrons are proof of that, and the amount of good will outpouring for all the fixes that were done for SW:BattleFront2 have made us believe that EA can be a proper steward of the brand, as long as they listen to the fan base and not treat them like FIFA ultimate team whales.

Give us a great SW product, and we will buy it. What's the phrase.. "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY". That's what you have to gain.
