Well, let’s look at TTKs shall we?
The basic DPS is 450 for an X-wing, 480 with burst cannons.
“Raw” downing a 4800 HP bomber takes 10 seconds of perfect fire with burst cannons. Not “pretty good fire”, not “I’m pretty sure like 80% of my stuff hit” fire, a straight 10 seconds of pounding the crap out of it without one missed bolt, let alone a missed burst. Not one evasive move by him, or anything less than a perfect track by you all while no one else shoots at you.
From the front, he will put out enough DPS auto aimed to down any non-bomber out there. Plus, an assault shield will turn three of those seconds into one second...meaning we are now at twelve seconds of perfect fire.
if we adjust for reality and say you hit with a lovely 80% of your shots...well then, now the “raw” time it takes to kill a bomber is as long as the respawn timer.
Yes, there are specialized counter builds. Yes, tight coordination, experience, and having the precisely right load out in your options can give you a chance.
But basically you’re saying you need to play a perfect game either in synchronized builds or in an uninterrupted quarter minutes of gunfire at just the right point before it can bomb the target...and the rando just needs to click “yes, I’d like a TIE bomber. “ And is you falter at all, the bomber(s) get through and kill the caps pretty damn fast.
That is not what bombers are supposed to feel like. Bombers are supposed to be a precious cargo delivered in just the right circumstance as your fighters sweep the way or they die helplessly, not a nearly guaranteed means to win unless your opponent plays an immaculate game.
