Imperial cockpit is limited, should be a full AR view
I know it is a movie trope that the imperial cockpit is simply that one tiny circular window...but this is not correct.
Why are imperial cockpits a sphere, why this very specific and unique shape?
Why is there just a little view window facing front?
Simply put...it is an AR(augmented reality) sphere. Images of the space surrounding the vehicle's spherical cockpit are projected to the pilot within the sphere.
That tiny little window in the front? It is a system redundancy if the AR is compromised. What the pilot sees in an imperial cockpit is for the most part a full unhindered view of space.
Now judging on how the technology is presented via the movies. I'd suspect it isn't a real view of space, but instead a unique monochrome simulation that gives only feedback on stuff of relevance. Things of relevance would be other ships, asteroids, planets, missiles, path projections etc etc...but not space dust or explosions.
In anycase, taking the information above...I would think it would enhance the VR experience for players using imperial ships. Since the current ingame design makes for a very boring and almost pointless use of VR.
