Jedi Fallen Order Unplayable Due To Performance/Stuttering [PC]

I just got the game today and already the game has loads of issues. The biggest issue has to do with the performance and stuttering in game due to poor optimization work done by the dev team. My setup is a [1080 TI / i7-6700 / 16GB RAM / Windows 10 x64] and I've gone through all the settings without any fixes to this issue. This problem seems to stem from the open world aspect of optimization as many of the sections where the game is loading the open world scene will cause major stuttering issues. All of my settings are now on the lowest that they can be, which is medium, and yet this problem still is a huge issue making the game unplayable. Fights with creatures turn into a hit or miss where the game will stutter which causes you to die due to not being able to perform any actions. Exploring the open world, which should look beautiful, becomes unenjoyable due to how poorly the game performs. This is embarrassing how badly this is doing so far after launch and is 100% unacceptable. Rockstar has already fixed their issues in their open world game which does way more than this game does. Fix your *.

@reaperL5D I don't know if you were able get your issue resolved but the issue I experienced was fixed switching the xbox one controller off bluetooth and back to usb.

  • @DoomPredator1991 You can also lower your refresh rate down to 60 hz through Nvidia control panel. Also you can lower to 120 and set the Star Wars program to adaptive half refresh rate in the Vsync tab. This usually helps in games locked to 60 FPS

lowering the capped fps does help quite a bit.   in the game settings I lowered mine to 45 fps and then put vsync on.   its not nearly as noticeable now and I now can at least enjoy the game.

I understand many will not accept this as a solution.  but its the only thing thats going to make a difference besides messing with overlocking settings of the cpu or vram,  which I'm skeptical of.    and honestly I can't tell the difference between 100 and 45 fps in this game anyways...   this definitely does not excuse the terrible coding or optimization of this game from a big budget company which is embarrassing.

  • After much struggle I found the settings which made me play the game without any stutters and have a nice experience (I played with a wired XBOX ONE controller):

    Specs pc:

    i5-6500 CPU

    16 GB Ram

    GTX 1070

    Settings: VIDEO

    Fullscreen

    Resolution: 2560x1080

    Max 30 FPS

    Vsync off

    Dynamic resolution scaling on

    Graphics quality EPIC

    Settings: VISUALS

    Motion Blur off

    Film Grain off

    Chromatic aberration on

    Camera Shake on

    Brightness default

  • I just started playing this game and this seems to solve the issue. I've disconnected my Xbox One controller that I was playing the game with using Bluetooth and started using my Keyboard and Mouse and this issue is pretty much gone. Still a little hitch here and there when going into a new area but that was normal. My game was stuttering like crazy at some points even when just standing still while using my Xbox Controller over Bluetooth.

  • Are you on a laptop if you are there is a problem with laptops when gaming where it doesn't run stuff good when it isn't plugged in so try plugging it in with the charger maybe?

    RX 6900 XT

    NVME 2 4 gen SN850 7gb/sec

    2x8 gb ram ddr4 3333mhz

    Ryzen 5600x

    Win 10 pro Last Update

07/03/2021 and the game still stutters  i play on a 4k/60 monitor with freesync.

What the hell devs fix this garbage ps5/xbox x is fixe but PC no...

  • So, I just wanted to share this. What worked best for me is disabling the Origin In-Game overlay. The stuttering still exists but it's majorly fixed at this point. Most of the stuttering that happens to me is when the game loads up new assets, other than that, it's smooth for me.

I also reduced the graphics to high but that's because I have a GTX 1060 6GB with a bottlenecking i5 4570. The game is working well for me now after disabling Origin In-Game overlay. Just wanted to share.
