Legacy controls for Battlefront for xbox one not working

I just bought Battlefront for the xbox one.  When switching to the Legacy control scheme the left thumbstick won't work.  My character will very slowly turn left or right and that is it.  Is there so...

Legacy sticks do not work properly. There's an option to use legacy, but you can't play the game in legacy mode.
