Legacy controls for Battlefront for xbox one not working

I just bought Battlefront for the xbox one.  When switching to the Legacy control scheme the left thumbstick won't work.  My character will very slowly turn left or right and that is it.  Is there something I am missing or does this need a patch?  I play halo 5 and Battlefield 4  with legacy controls and they do just fine, so I know it is not my controller.  Thanks for your time in helping me with this situation.
