Native Oculus Support Update Crippled VR

Specs:

CPU - Intel Core i5-9300H @ s.40 GHz

GPU -  GTX 1650

RAM - 8 GB

VR Headset - Oculus Quest

Following the 2.0 update that enabled native oculus support, I am no longer able to play the game in VR. My GPU is not supported by oculus software, so when steam forces the game through oculus, it is not able to start up. I am not able to run the game through Steam VR or through the library. I have also tried running the game in normal mode and toggling into VR, nothing has worked. The game, and my driver(s) have all been updated.

I should also mention that I was previously playing through the virtual desktop app on my oculus (with a physical connection) and running the game directly through Steam VR.

Any solutions regarding disabling the oculus startup or forcing the game through Steam VR instead would be greatly appreciated. I purchased the game solely so I can play in VR so its pretty frustrating that I can't anymore due to what was supposed to be an 'upgrade'.

Had the same problem found 2 options that do the same thing

    try this...

Open Task Manager in Widows (r-click task bar on desktop and choose it from dropdown)

    end task for these :

    OVR Redir

    OVR Service Launcher
    OVRServer_x64.exe

    close Task Manager

    Run game from steam

hopefully, it should work for you now

alternatively use the OculusDebugTool.exe (run as Administrator)

found in (for me) C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics

in top menubar click Service then click Stop Oculus Service

    close the window

    Run game from steam

    Hope this helps.

  • @NightsEye Hey that seemed to work, thanks! Though i should note for anyone checking this in the future that I had to 'toggle' into VR from the options menu after it was sucessfully launched on the desktop.
