Trying to get the controls mapped in game. Iv'e got about 6 controllers on my computer, however, I cannot get SW Squadrons to use the correct three controllers. The Flight Stick Devices I should have in there are
- Joystick- HOTAS Warthog
- Throttle - HOTAS Warthog
- MFG Crosswind V2
However, it has latched onto the vJoy Device like grim death and will not consider using anything else. Unplugging things just moves the controllers I need further from the top three devices, and break other systems I've got set up, so it's not a great option here.
Suggestions for getting this thing to let me map the right Flight Stick Devices? Right now I'm dead in the water.
Thank you,
Harry Voyager

similar vein in that it wont recognize my throttle, but sees my stick and pedals. I have Virpil warbrd, virpil t-50 throttle, and MFG crosswinds as well.

I have a very similar problem. I'm using a FlashFire Cobra V5/Accelerator and CH Pro Pedals. The stick and the pedals are recognized by the game, but the throttle isn't even listed under devices.

Same exact issue here. How can warthunder get this right but these guys can't?

Having the same problem.
Controllers my system has are:
VKB-Sim Space Gunfighter
TWCS Throttle
MFG Crosswind V2
Swiftpoint Z mouse
G-13 Game Pad with mini joystick
vJoy Driver - don't know what this is but it always takes a controller slot
My joystick and throttle never load in game. Always the bottom 4 devices. I tried editing the config file but it seems to re-detect controllers at start up each time.
We really need a way to select from all our PC's available controllers. And only 2 or 3 controllers if thats all we have.

Same joystick, same pedals.
So far i cannot get yaw left to accept input setup if yaw right is setup and vice versa. To get round this (for now) I am using the brake function.
On the first (proper) mission the only input that is accepted is roll.

Fully concur with the above.
CH Pro Throttle
CH Combat Stick
Above being used in "mapped Mode" via the CH Control Manager generate 6 virtual devices. I also have a game pad and rudder peddals (that is a total of 8 if anyone wasn't counting)
Device list in game only supports 4 controllers.
Oddly, the game chooses to allow me to only select from 1, 6, 3 and 5 from the CH devices. This limit of 4 devices is VERY familiar if you use Teall joystick virtual overlay as javascript / browsers are HARD CAPPED at hooking into the FIRST 4 devices detected.
Lets hope the Devs are not using the same methods.

I also have the rudder issue. Rudder input is only recognized as a single direction. So either Yaw + or -. Input mapping needs some work.
My setup:
- Virpil Warbird Base with TM F-18 stick
- Virpil MongoosT-50CM2 Throttle
- Simped Rudders

Pretty much the same.
Currently running:
- Virpil T50 joystick
- Virpil T50 throttle
- MFG crosswinds
- CH pro throttle
- x2 arduino button boxes
SWS is only recognising my MFGs and CH throttle.
Any good solutions?
- Laxxor5 years agoNew Rookie@GrumpyHarry i have same issue as you - total of 7 devices but game is capped as bothering to recognise more than 4 - see my post on page 2 re Teall and javascript USB device address limit

This is exactly the same setup I have:
- Joystick- HOTAS Warthog
- Throttle - HOTAS Warthog
- MFG Crosswind V2
I can get the game to recognise the Joystick and Throttle, but as of yet it flatly refuses to acknowledge I have rudder pedals.
I am genuinely very disappointed with the terrible input options and appalling menu interface that this game has, I hope this gets patched up to something approaching the kind of controller options any other flight related game in 2020 would have.
- Laxxor5 years agoNew Rookie@McGoughTheHermit How many devices does the game think you have connected?
@Laxxor I'm sorry to say I don't know how to check what specific devices the game can see (if you or someone else could educate me that would be very useful).
All I can say is from a practical point of view I have the following case:
Thrustmaster Warthog joystick.
Thrustmaster Warthog throttle.
MFG Crosswind rudder pedals.
USB mouse + keyboard.
When I have all those devices plugged in the behaviour in-game is:
Joystick axis and buttons all register in-game and can be assigned actions.
Throttle axis and buttons all register in-game and can be assigned actions.
Rudder pedals only register in a single direction (ie I can assign 'yaw right', but when I try to assign 'yaw left' to the opposite rudder motion the game does not register any input)
Mouse pointer is not visible or useable on screen unless I hold down the right mouse button continuously.
If I remove the Warthog throttle and stick and just have the pedals, mouse and keyboard attached:
Rudder pedals recognised and I can assign yaw direction without problems on the + and - rudder axis (and pedal action as well).
Mouse pointer fully visible and works nominally
Switching out the Warthog HOTAS + MFG Crosswind pedals and replacing it with the standard plastic Thrusmaster HOTAS (with twist on joystick for yaw):
All joystick and throttle axis are recognised and can be assigned
Mouse works nominally
Sadly the plastic joystick is nearing the end of it's life, is very spongy and not that precise - I would really like to be able to use the Warthog/rudder combo that I use without problem in *literally* every other flying-style game that I own. Right now if I want to switch game I have to unplug/replug a bunch of stuff before I start.
