Am I missing something? I don't know where I can use my emotes, other than the 3 seconds that I am ready to take off for my mission. I can barely kick it off before the mission starts. I spent some ...

After you chose your spaceship you can press Esc to close the menu. You will find yourself in the lobby where you now have two minutes to spam your emotes because there is always someone from the New Rep that doesn't ready up.
