Yes on a pc. Tried it with an old xbox360 wired controller and it all maps correctly. Would prefer the new xbox controller 

I'm having the exact same issue. My Xbox Series X/S controller's button mapping is completely helter skelter. The A Button is mapped as Down on the D-pad, and so on and so forth.

I just figured out that the button mapping lines up only if I press the Windows key while in-game and then engage with the controller. the only downside is I have no sound if i do it that way. ALSO, it works properly when it's connected by cable.
