@wolfy2160 I was under the impression that the Ultimate Edition was digital-only. Can you link to where they're selling a US Ultimate edition physically?

In any case importing should usually work fine unless you're using a PS4, since their regions are separate. You'd likely run into issues with DLC and such on PS4.

A better option would likely be to grab a physical version locally then get the season pass on your system's store.

There's the link to the versions sold in the US and you can see there is a disc format apparently.
- The URL might change automatically to your region, so if you want to check it out, ensure en-us is present in the URL.
I was hoping to preorder the ultimate edition so I had access to all the features in the deluxe edition, for example the DL-44 blaster and the extra cosmetics.
So if I preorder the Standard edition, will I still get all that? I would really like the game format as a disc - I like physical ownership and also it gives me extra storage on my PS4.

The Standard edition also comes with the DL-44 and all the other guns. They will just take a while to earn in-game. However the emotes are exclusive to the Deluxe edition.

Well the link does work for me and shows me availability for Battlefront Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate as a disc.
Is there a way I could get them as a disc in the UK. I particularly would like the Deluxe or Ultimate.

As far as I see on your link, it looks like there is a disk of Ultimate Edition, but then when you click the "Pre-order Disk" under this section, it takes you to the Digital Deluxe disk. Three is no physical copy of the Ultimate Edition. This is DOWNLOAD ONLY. But what you can do is get the physical copy of the Deluxe Edition and then simply purchase the Season Pass on your PS4. That is all the Ultimate Edition is, the Deluxe Edition combined with the Season Pass in one. Even if they did have the Ultimate Edition in a physical form, it would simply be the Deluxe Edition with a code for the Season Pass.

Yeah I noticed that, but then I was wondering whether the game from the US would work in the UK.

Since Playstation region locks their games and DLC, you will want to purchase the game within the region you are playing or purchased the Playstation from. So if you purchased the PS4 in the UK, you need a UK game and DLC for it, but if you imported a US PS4, then you will need the US version of the game and DLC.
