Lolly 1003, your solution worked perfectly for me, thanks for your help 🙂 may be worth noting that the first time I tried it it didn’t seem to but that was my mistake as I’d only clicked the ok button but forgot to click apply in the other menu so it didn’t save, once again thanks very much 🙂
- jimmarshall5 years agoSeasoned Ace@lolly1003 I'd like to thank you. It's working perfectly for me.....but for others, it will take a bit for it to load, so don't exit out of the game.
Thank you it worked. do I need to reset anything ?
Sadly this didn't work for me. I wish it would just work
i dont see the exe file. is that just the game file itself? if so, when i right click on it there is no combability tab. i would love to figure this out as all of my friends had no trouble starting and it sucks.
Wow!! It worked for me. Thank you :D
@lolly1003 wrote:Open game folder, make a right click on game exe file, go to the compatibility tab, put a check on disable full screen optimization and then click on Change high DPI setting, put a check on both boxes(Program DPI and High DPI scaling override), now re launch the game.
Fantastic. This worked for me. Thank you so much. Thought I was going to have to get a refund.....
Worked perfectly! Thank you!
If you are not sure exactly what to check on this settings, this is the setup that solved it for me
starwarssquadrons.exe -> Properties
Change high DPI settings

"Me too".
Plays the EA logo thing, then the stuff about the alliance and empire, then black screen with cursor.
Tried everything listed in this thread, no change.
Windows 10
Not pleased.
- @Heroselohim Yes that is what I did. Right click on game launcher and then properties, then compatibility tab
I really thought that would work - didn’t for me. I think I might just get a refund- not up to a AAA release.
There are MANY players experiencing compatibility problems. So this issue will surely get top priority on their lists. I would recommend the wait, my experience with the game is amazing...
There is an interesting thread about technical issues here: https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsSquadrons/comments/j389jg/official_technical_issues_megathread/
I am sorry to say, my fix for this was a refund... this is just not good enough, for what was an release so many people were looking forward to, this is a disaster by EA. The beta testing on this is a joke......
I was hitting this today and found a potential solution if anyone else is using an Nvidia card. I was able to play fine yesterday, but I setup a new monitor today and when launching with it I would have a black screen. Audio was fine but nothing ever showed up. Eventually I could get it to go to a windowed via Alt-Enter but anytime I tried to set the resolution in-game to fullscreen the same thing would happen. I tried the compatibility suggestions here but they did not make any difference. However, I found that the Image Settings in the Nvidia Control Panel has a toggle for this and mine was set to, "Use the advanced 3D image settings". I set this to "Let the 3D application decide" and it fixed the issue.
This is inconvenient but hopefully there will be a patch or driver (I checked the 10/07 Geforce driver and it did not resolve this) in the future. Hopefully this works for you!
Also you may need to disable in game notifications and overlays from both Steam and GeForce applications. Go to settings and turn this off may help with some issues.
- @lolly1003 Thank you this worked for me
work but not in good resolution : 1900x1200 instead of 5120x1440 ...
Maybe EA patch

- @EA_Atic No but it same dimension : Samsung C49RG90, why ?
I'm on a LG 4K monitor, powered by a RTX3080. Latest drivers, and this game launched previously when it first came out. Now I finally have time to play it, and I get a black screen after starting it and my monitor eventually goes into energy saving mode because it doesn't have a signal or something.
This is ridiculous. Everything else on origins launches (played madden with my brother in law yesterday), fresh reboot, etc.
Why isn't this working at all? Thankfully I'm an origin subscriber thing. If I paid money for this game I'd be pissed.
It would not work on my 4k monitor as well. To get it to work I changed the resolution to 1080p and signed out and back in (this part is important). I started the game and it was still sized incorrectly, but you can at least see the menu and I was able to change the resolution which said it was 1080p border-less to 1080p full screen mode this fixed the sizing of the game and it looked normal. Switched it back to 1080p windowed and closed the game. I then changed back to 4k and signed out and back in, started the game which started in 1080p window mode and looked fine. Changed to 4k border-less and haven't had an issue since. I think I can also semi confirm the issue is in the scale settings which in my case were set to 250% as I use a 65 inch TV as my monitor. My cousin who was a similar setup also bought the game so we could play together. I told him to change the scaling to 100% and sign out and back in before starting the game and it was fine for him.
Scale-Setting of what ?? Windows or in-Game scale ??
I still have troubles and my monitor switches after 3 sec. off, when no signal is coming :-(.
Hate this -> more than a year an a StarWars Game with such issues….
WHERE ARE ALL THESE SCREEN SETTINGS. i DONT SEE THEM IN THE GAME MENUES, DEF NOT UNDER VR SETTINGS
for error 4975 on Steam and EAaccount linked correctly, you need to disable the 2FA verification in EAaccount...
