Ryzen 9 5900/RTX 3070 - Force PC Restart on Launch

Here is my rig:

OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
Version 10.0.19042 Build 19042
System Type x64-based PC
Processor AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor, 3701 Mhz, 12 Core(s), 24 Logical Processor(s)
BaseBoard Manufacturer ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.
BaseBoard Product PRIME X570-PRO
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 32.0 GB

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070

I am running a Samsung G9 49" at 5120x1440. I have tried dropping my resolution but it makes no difference.

I have bought the Steam and EA Play versions and both crash my whole PC right after the initial loading screen when the blue bar finishes loading. I have done the following with no luck:

1) Updated my MB BIOS to latest version

2) All Nvidia drivers are up to date, as well as trying other versions but none work

3) Disabled ALL Anti-Virus (I uses ESET Security)
4) Cleared all temp files and used CClearner to clear Registry errors.

5) Re-installed multiple times and cleared all registry entries

Tried the tech support chat but they are really no help at all. They each ask to do the same things I have done ad nauseum. At this point I'm not sure what to do next. A high end PC should be running this game no problem but apparently not.

  • Updating my BIOS with the latest version fixed it. Guess Asus gets the win on fixing this issue.

  • If the PC restarts itself without, it may be a Power Supply issue. Which power supply do you have in there? Are you using separate PCIe Power cables or a combined one? If it's the latter, try the former.

I'm running an 850w Corsair power supply which is very much oversized . I had the rig built by a custom shop who tested all of my components and they all passed. I don't have the issue with any other game, including AAA titles like Cyberpunk 2077. It's just this game that shuts the whole thing down. What I have read is their is a known issue with high end Ryzen processors with their Anti-Cheat and/or an RTX level video card. It only effects high end PC owners so apparently EA doesn't really care.

  • After another Nvidia graphics driver update I figured I would try again, no luck. Game still crashes my entire rig when I try and play.

  • Loaded the game on a second PC of mine, an Intel i5 running an RTX 2070 and it works just fine. Both machines made by the same PC manufacturer (Xidax.com) which tells me the problem rests in the way the game was written either at the Anti-Cheat level or at the game level.

Either way that's some find game coding their, Lou.

I recommend that you reach out to who ever built your PC, if PC is dying something is wrong with the hardware. @GeneralZod-CA

  • The same company built both PC's. The only difference is in the machine I am having an issue with I am running higher performance hardware. Every other game I have runs just fine, it's only this one that doesn't work. The manufacturer has run many tests to check the various components in my machine and they all pass. That's why the obvious problem is the code and not the hardware.

  • Updating my BIOS with the latest version fixed it. Guess Asus gets the win on fixing this issue.
