Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order - M & K Control Customization Extremely Limited

I was really looking forward to this game being released; however I've already come to the conclusion that it is unplayable at this time.

In the past I've written on other forums about "The Principle of Least Astonishment" and the science of ergonomics (the science of "The Human Form" and how it interacts with a given environment, device, or other applicable subject such as keyboarding for game controls).... and now I need to say something here too because programmers at this time are not literate on these topics based on what I've observed with the customization options for the controls in game.

At a later time, I'll be updating this post with a recommended control scheme for mouse & keyboard players such as myself on PC that have absolutely no interest in xBox style controls and/or controllers.  I merely went to setup the game, and given that I've decades of experience in dealing with customizing controls for PC games; including just about every Star Wars game made since 1992 for PC, I figured it'd be a quickie setup, and I could take a few minutes to give the game a test run before heading off to bed.  "Oh boyo!" ( Yes, a Jar Jar Binks reference.  LOL ) ...I was apparently in for a rude awakening.

The control customization options for this game need a severe overhaul.  I'll be lending my decades of gaming experience to the benefit of the community in hopes that the developers read this, and stop catering to console gamers  along with gamers that use their PC's as consoles because most of the PC gaming market is dominated by working adults and professionals versus the console gaming marketplace that is typically made up of people that are often 10 to 20 years younger than many PC gamers making for not only a technology gap, but also a significant age gap.  If I had my way, Windows 10 for example, would still support some sort of ISA Card style game ports that use hardware Hexadecimal memory addresses 0x207 & 0x208 via a two row, 15-Pin wide DIN connector for controllers like the original Force Feedback Pro from Microsoft that was a joy to play Rogue Squadron on back in the late 1990's making the N64 version of the same game seem unplayable by PC standards.

The concluding point is of course being that at this time, I'd think most PC gamers would feel very similarly regarding there being NOT enough of a performance gap between what console gamers probably see when playing Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order on their xBox or whatever game consoles it's been released on in comparison to what should be a superior gaming experience on PC; especially on such things as controller customization.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order's control customization options need a serious overhaul and patch in the very immediate future.  I'll be posting a recommended control scheme for Mouse & Keyboard in the morning, but in the meantime, sleep is calling.

Also, Community input on what other people would like to see for control customization for the PC version of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is certainly most welcome to this posting in my own opinion, so with that being said it is sincerely hoped that all Star Wars PC game fans take the opportunity to make their voices heard as well.  Everyone in the PC gaming community, please feel free to use this thread that I've started to add in your suggestions for control customization too, so that hopefully the right people that can make the necessary changes and updates to the game read about what's expected in the PC version of a game, and patch accordingly while perhaps even... dare I say it.... get these things done well  right out of the gate in the future.

The present setup and options for control customization essentially make the PC version of the game unplayable, and that's just sad because Respawn has otherwise, done a decent job with play control customization options in their past PC games like Apex and the Titanfall series.  We need to see that same level of intelligent design and customization in Star Wars Jedi :Fallen Order.

Looking forward to the much needed and necessary improvements being made to the control customization options being made in the near and immediate future.

Thank you in advance.

@Unverschamter no problems. I'm no youngster myself but I know that most people these days just skip long posts. The Twitter generation if you will.

Did you try the double click method? Just select what you want to rebind so the long text is shown (hold button etc), then double click (but the second click should be held) the button you want to bind.

And I agree that the devs should patch it so the the text hold the button... actually was true for all.
