Star Wars Squadrons shuts down computer during gameplay

I just purchased Star Wars: Squadrons, and it shuts down not just the game but my entire machine in the first mission, just as we see the Alderaan convoy/asteroid base. It always shuts down in the same spot and always the full machine.

I have tried the following:

Uninstall/Reinstall - problem continued

Updated video card driver - problem continued

Ran as administrator - problem continued

Ran a repair using the EA app - problem continued

This is VERY frustrating as I cannot get ANY gameplay out of it. I would prefer to have the game work or have my purchase refunded because clearly it is useless, if these crashes/shutdowns continue. I am attaching DxDiag for help.

Some people on other threads suggested video settings. I can't seem to access video card settings (clearly I am doing something wrong). If anyone has ideas how to fix this or access those settings please advise.

    Hi @antitrudeau121,

I can see in the DxDiag (thanks for that btw) that there's a program on your PC that is crashing quite a bit, which could potentially cause these issues (together with SWSD) for you. The program is called " DTHtml.exe", which seems to be related to ImageTune from Portrait Displays.

Do you happen to know if you have this installed? If so, could you please try to turn this program off and check if the PC still crashes?

  • It does appear to be installed! It's a program that appears to be tied to my monitor. How do I turn it off though? It doesn't appear in Task Manager - I found it through a file search using Control Panel.
