Here's the answer to your dreams then.
Easy to setup and more importantly automatically bypasses SteamVR, I installed it to get around the horrible performance I had in IL-2 and it changed the game for me, smooth, no stutter, higher fps.
Open composite is great, a real life saver, but its still no substitute for just having native support, which it sounds like the origin version does, which just makes it DOUBLELY annoying the steam version doesn't.
I would have bought on Origin if i had known.
Well here's an update, open composite gets flagged by the anti cheat and can't even be used.
stuck waiting for them to patch the steam version, or rebuy it.
- @Da1San Unfortunately OpenComposite doesn't work with Squadrons. When enabled, the game doesn't display the VR options anymore.
- @shugninx75 Yeah, found that out the hard way so refunded on steam and bought the origin version.
Works a treat without the SteamVR stutter. I spent so much time just in menus getting a HOTAS set up right (the deadzone issue and all), that i'm past the window of being able to ask for a refund.
Feels like getting stuck with a lemon.
see open composite compability list of games. There are no squardrons.
ther isn't a command switch to add too the short cut like -oculus too force it to use native oculus like on some games?
The problem I have is that I bought it thru Epic, which launches via Origin, but when I Toggle VR, it launches SteamVR instead of Oculus! WTH? I really want the ability to select the VR runtime of choice on game launch (like everyone else here!). VR gamers rise up!
- @Da1San I've tested the Origin version and didn't notice much improvement. The difference seems negligible, if any. Nothing comparable with switching to Open Composite in other games (using OC with IL2 Great Battles brings 10 to 15 more fps compared with SteamVR).
