The Mouse Controls are Tremendously Terrible

There are 2 major issues with the mouse controls for this game: the dead zone mechanic trying to emulate an analog stick and the mouse sensitivity changing with ship speed. Both of these need to be removed or at least give us the option to remove them. Just has the mouse movement translate directly with the crosshair and never change mouse sensitivity. It is clear that mouse controls are an afterthought, but changing mouse sensitivity constantly makes it impossible to reliably aim. The game is relatively fine as far as I can tell but the aiming is essentially impossible on a mouse right now.

Please address this.

  • I, also, find the mouse a bit unwieldy at the moment. However, I have not yet changed any in-game settings.

If you hone in on any settings that help, please do share.

    Thanks

  • I don't know why the mouse can't just be direct input. Is this the only input method with a cursor? Dragging a cursor to move the aiming reticule on delay is just not working. And then trying to center the mouse again (without mashing center mouse button every few seconds) is almost impossible. The reticule just jumps around the screen.

I saw someone in another channel recommend 5% Mouse Sensitivity and 30% Mouse Screen Motion Range. This seems to improve the handling a lot to me.

Otherwise, I think mouse controls are mostly fine, though the game really needs to allow binding pitch/yaw/roll to whatever the user desires (I personally prefer it with pitch/yaw on mouse and roll on keyboard, but I understand there's plenty of players that don't), and I feel the controls need more button-conservation options (eg, hold button for maximum power to a system) like JS and Controller have.

  • YEARS we have been complaining about this. they do nothing. is adding more mouse property sliders really that hard??
