[Thread title edit - Admin.]

At this point there are almost 1.5 times as many posts and replies for technical issues and bugs than there are for actual discussion of the game.

I’m seeing posts all over Reddit and here of people feeling they’ve been deceived: money being invested into new VR headsets, HOTAS setups, etc. when prices are already inflated due to MS Flight Simulator and the Covid supply chain issue.

People trusted EA and Motive to deliver on what was marketed as a niche experience with AAA* production values. However, it’s now been almost 2 weeks since launch and ranked is still utterly broken, the VR/refresh rate issue is not one bit better, and communication from EA has been what one would expect from a third-rate f2p mobile app dev, not a top-tier publisher.

I think there’s merit behind the argument that EA knew this would be the case due to the lack of any kind of open beta or testing and the total lack of actual VR footage prior to launch.

I’m interested to hear people’s thoughts on the matter.

I'm still having fun with the game. But it is a HUGE disappointment that EA does not seem to be taking all the bugs seriously. I really want to compete in the ranked season, but cannot due to the bugs. I still enjoy playing unranked matches. Although since the last patch, I can't even get into unranked Fleet Battles vs AI. So all I get is 5v5 Dogfights.

EA is a big-name, and the consumers have a right to expect better. Not a bait-and-switch... great advertisement as the "premiere experience" then take the money and run, leaving a broken game in the consumers hands. I guess this is what a lot of people were expecting from EA anyway.

If EA won't make it right, then I probably won't be buying any more EA games in the future.

As a note, I spent about $1200 getting

    2x PS4s

    1x VR

    1x HOTAS

    2x copies of the game

so my son and I could play this together.

JUST FOR THIS GAME! For THIS game! I don't own any other games for the Sony platform.

It's disappointing not being able to get my full-money's worth out of the game.

Check out Blood & Truth, Astrobot, and Sairento. So many good PSVR games. I just about own them all.

Is it really overrection to say that devs have ignorant attitude? Really they got the info about all the problems quite quickly after launch. Then they made quick fix half a**ed where they stated that number of bugs have been fixed and HOTAS deadzone bug was not fixed they just got over the bug without actually fixing it and most of the other bugs they said were fixed didn't get fixed. Most of the bug fixes did nothing it seems. But the worst thing that actually made me say that they have ignorant attitude is the complete lack of information from the devs. They have not told that they are even fixing these known bugs after their bug "fix" patch.

Pretty much all of these bugs would have been found on beta test even if players that got to test just played and wrote to devs if they encountered problems. You have to remember that these problems most likely were not caused by stress. Most of these problems are caused by bad design choices and would have been far easier to fix before launch. Some of these bad design choices might be so hard to fix that they wont fix them.

All so i don't know where you get your numbers but im quite sure that the ranking bug affects larger player base than the VR bugs. Players that have this game on steam are minority i think or this game all ready have very few players because if you check there is around 4000-5000 players playing this game via steam. All so the way the connecting to matches work i'm afraid that they simply cant solve that problem.

EA being big publisher most likely is the reason this game was launched like this. Small dev was not able to meet deadline of huge EA it seems.

u said it yourself, EA is a big name

    let me correct you,

EA is a big name, but not in good terms

in the game development and game industry Electronic arts and his name stand only for one thing: negativ * like hell

as a publisher EA in short words, is at the verry top of the most hated companys

they * up other companys, and games like noone else on this world.

they pushing cokmpanys to release games, unfinished, buggy games like hell

EA * up more games with there company politics as u can imagine.

there are a lot of games, where EA got there hands on and * them up as even good games after all.

if u try to check out by yourself how many games EA published, where the EA brand is at the game, and than check out the game, u can see it by yourself.

    https://www.ranker.com/list/why-people-hate-ea/john-saavedra

    https://www.cinemablend.com/games/Why-People-Hate-EA-Ten-Simple-Reasons-43696.html

    these are just 2 examples.

basicaly u can say : a company wants to make a game they have 99% of the game ready with all what they wanted for the game, than EA come along and basicaly is deleting 99% of the game, and chaning it.release it , even if the game is buggy, unfinished, content got deleted.just to milk the money out of a product.

there is a reason why EA was 2 years in a row the worst company in the USA. and is basicaly above ubi soft as the worst company at all...

    https://screenrant.com/video-game-franchises-ea-ruined/

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2013/04/05/ea-responds-to-worst-company-in-america-contest-we-can-do-better/#39d9118255a5

now EA is crunching and pushing the star wars brand again.there is no question they do great looking games, but as u can see so far, there is no response or statement so far for this game here. and there wont be

lets talk in 6 months again, and than next year again when the next game from EA hits the gound, and u can see what iam talking about.

the sad point is: people still buy there games, because they hope EA is doing better , and learned something.but they did not. sad but true.

because EA could have a much much better impact on the games industry in the past 15 years, as only negativ  reviews. EA could be the reason why the game industry made a big step forward, but they decided to not be it.

15% of players are playing in VR

5.6% (on steam) have completed their placement matches:

To answer your question "where you get your numbers": from official sources.

Like i said i don't think steam players are majority of players so we don't know how large part of players have done their placement matches in total. So we don't know if its larger part or not.

It is a representative sample ... true, gaming habbits could differ from platform to platform (xbox, PS4, steam, epic, origin) but it is highly unlikely that it will be off by a factor of three

  • @Me_mumblecake Nice reply, too bad you assumptions are both off and show a lack of insight on QA practices. So funny you are a dev, that makes 2 of us. The only difference is prolly that I am a one man team, my releases are anything but perfect, but, if you look at steams top 20 played vr games, mine ís in there, flawed and all. Yes, you mention ranking and such not being clear through testing, weird, stresstesting reveals an aweful lot of issues.

It's a choice not to test properly. It ís a choice to release an unfinished product. Take it from me when I say release dates are more about personal bonus, and les about putting the best possible product out there.

Case in point: I'm typically a PC gamer, not console, but I got a console specifically so I could do squadrons in VR. I didn't want to spend even more to get a VR PC.

$700 for PS4 pro and VR

    versus

$1200-1300 for a new/up-to-date gaming PC rig capable of VR

$400-500 for a decent PC VR

I DON'T think MOST people are necessarily playing this on PC.

Of my 4 friends playing this:

    1 is on PC

    1 is on XBOX

    2 are on PS4
