Figured it out, just had to turn on the virtual button for the effect to go away.
yeah, had the same issue, so to anyone looking to solve this - you may disable 'virtual buttons' in the thrustmaster control panel, it's in the windows start menu by default. i confirm that it works nicely with squadrons after this change 🙂
