I have this too. Workaround is to have the Xbox controller plugged in without batteries.
I tweeted Ian Frazier about this on Thursday 1st October, he replied, thanked me for letting him know and suggested the above workaround. Hopefully this is amongst the fixes they’ve mentioned

This work around doesn't work for me. Does it have to be plugged into the xbox?
- 5 years ago@nuropath Yeah that's what I've found. Plugging the controller into power isn't enough, has to be plugged directly into the xbox.
- 5 years ago@ohnojono I don't seem to get the work around to work for me.
I have the controller plugged into one of the USB's in the back of the xbox one x and my hotas in the front USB. The controller still turns off in the middle of a battle - any hints as to what I am doing wrong??- 5 years ago@PultzH Afraid not sorry! Only that I had my HOTAS plugged in to the back and my Xbox controller in the front and that worked for me. Other people have suggested you need to take the batteries out of the controller but my controller is an elite so it doesn’t have removable batteries so I dunno ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
