Then again, it shuts down the possibility of other console exclusives, and is harder to set up to be a multimedia setup for the living room and a gaming PC in the bedroom/office/wherever. Consoles are convenient, reliable, and cheap (with very predictable costs post-purchase). I am fortunate to be able to own a Gaming/Work PC and a Playstation 4. They fill different roles (with some gaming overlap).
People simply have different priorities, needs, and resources. If someone has family and kids then the choice to opt for a console might make even more sense for them (or not for someone else).
