Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle not working

Running Thrustmaster Warthog Stick and Throttle with Thrustmaster TFRP flight rudder peddles on a pc with win10 that exceeds all recommended tech specs.  The hardware is fully functional with MS Flight Sim.    I fired up Squadrons, all default, and though the stick functions, throttle and peddles are not responsive.  I have to use the keyboard.  All 3 are recognized in the game's control options.  I tried changing the device order so stick was 1, throttle 2, and peddles 3 as per online recommendations, but the later two are still not functioning.   

Related, I was disappointed that the game does not have customizable key binding or testing in the control section for hotos... imo this is basic functionality that is sorely missing.
