Tie Phantoms, E-Wings, I’m sure some lore buffs could keep this going. We already have the customization options that include a lot of their potential loadouts, all we need is the ship models themselves.
obviously this would require a lot of counter balancing between ship choices, and as of now we still are having some issues between the current choices. Maybe this is more of a long term pipe dream at best.
More ships, absolutely.
But the TIE Defender is, and should be, too OP for competitive multiplayer. The B-Wing is difficult, too, because depending on which stats you use, can completely invalidate the Y-Wing.
That said, if the B-Wing were treated as a totally different niche than the Y-Wing, maybe having more emphasis on primary armament than on auxiliary options, it might work. If that were the case, maybe pair it up against the TIE Brute, or Assault Gunboat as an Imperial equivalent.
The TIE Defender would be fun to fly in a single-player or co-op campaign, though.
For other ships with very similar stats to the 4 ships each faction has, maybe they could be brought in as effectively reskins of the basic ships.
For example, the Mandalorian Fang Fighter could be an alternative looking, but stat-identical ship to the TIE Interceptor. Ditto Mando Gauntlet and TIE Reaper.

Defender and B-Wing are definitely too OP to include in the game modes we have now. We'd need a different mode to work around them
The other complexity with the B-Wing is the size. In all the current ships you're sat (roughly) in the middle. In the B-Wing you'd be sat right out to one side and it would be hard to judge flying through gaps.
Not an impossible task, but certainly a tricky one!
What about a change of era along with a new range of ships? How about a CIS/Separatists era, so we could fly ARC-170s, V-19 Torrents, Jedi Interceptors, Vulture-class droids, Belbullab-22 starfighters etc. etc.
I was thinking maybe they could add the Millennium falcon and Jedi Starfighter, or Droid Starfighters.
dont think droid fighter wuld work in this game at all. they dont have cockpits and the game makes you play from inside the cockpit. and an outside view give too much of an advantage fov wise in multiplayer which si why they restrict everyone too use the same view. in fact alot of competive online games including racing games are now doing that.
Well, ok maybe no Droid Starfighters but I really want TIE Advanced.
I think battlefront having three iterations of Millennium Falcon was enough for me personally but to each their own.
Battlefront 2 had first person for droid starfighters, it was a digitized screen interface instead of a physical cockpit.
