- @Merc_Security opening gun foils is for agility which allows your ship to turn quickly as the engines are spread out and the guns are able to stay cooler since they dont heat eachother up faster. This is the design reason, but I dont know how they set it up in this game. although if you want speed they should be able to close for a major speed boosting like that of the Uwing.
S-Foils also dissipate the heat from shield generators i think, so having them closed wouldnt allow you to have shields or else the ship might overheat and shutdown
- @ghostmonk000 S-Foils are for heat dissipation. Closing S-Foils means more maneuverability but less firepower (and slower movement for the U-Wing).
It would be a cool feature but don't know if it would have any practical use in this game except to add immersion. In X-Wing it was nice, could open and close them as you wished. Rogue Squadron actually gave it a useful function, giving an added boost which helped shave off precious seconds on a mission to get that gold medal.
- @Petersaber They should have more maneuverability when open and more fire power since they have better cooling from being spread out. uwing dont have sfoils, but the extended wings should mean faster max speeds since it has better stabilization with the back dropped winged profile (which has no relevance in space). So, I have alot of problems with uwing and thats not one of them, though i think a sfoil system would be interesting.
- @KilroyWH78 I cant say if i would agree or disagree on that, but that would be a nice feature. I would say closed sfoils would just make shields weaker or less max or no condenser boosting.
@JCade821agree. i wish they would have made boost give you a sfoil closing pause and cut down firing to slow full burst shots like the awing plasburst shots and only allowing full missile use, but gives you an extra droid assisted targeting lock time boost.
