Amazon Pre-Order & Deluxe Edition bonus codes not received

So I placed my pre-order for the game on 6 April 2023 for PlayStation 5 on Amazon with the promise of exclusive bonus content. release date came. Game was delivered on the day of release. No pre-order code. "Never mind", I think, "it might take a day or two."

A day or two passes. I think little of it. After all, I pre-ordered because I wanted to play the game, not dress up as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

But also, who doesn't want to be Obi-Wan Kenobi?

It gets to Monday and now I am kind of miffed. So I start looking in to who I need to contact to get it sent out.

Should be no bother. Just need an auto email generated, right?

Well, Amazon links to here; not to an actual customer service department.

This is not useful. This is more of a place for bugs and other technical issues, I think. Besides, Amazon is the one who should be sending the email with the pre-order code, right?

So I go through Amazon's return chat service and manage to get a hold of someone. The first person tells me that they can't do it and so they pass me to someone else, who tells me the same thing, to then pass me to someone else who says he has sent the code and it should arrive in my email within 48 hours. Oh. Okay then. Easy. Even if it did take 3 different team members 45 minutes and being told what was the problem 3 times before they "figured it out".

Well, 48 hours comes and goes and there is still nothing. So I contact Amazon again.

Obviously now I am a little more irate. I was told this was solved and an email would arrive within 48 hours. What's the problem here? In between contact on the first day and the second, I have found messages on here stating that it is Amazon's responsibility to send the code out. The customer service team at Amazon dispute this and tell me over and over that this is not a code they can manually send and that I need to contact the manufacturer. Well, I tell them that the manufacturer says that it is up to Amazon and I, now fully embodying the Karen that I have some how evolved into over the course of this conversation, ask to speak to a supervisor.

Now, the supervisor takes a moment to read over the conversation before repeating the same thing their customer service rep has said, "Please contact the manufacturer and they will be able to help you resolve the issue."

Well, I disagree again, and so they try to palm me off with a 13 digit code... for a system that works on a 12 digit code.

So I reiterate that this is Amazon's responsibility and that I need a 12 digit code.

They, however, hold their ground saying that this is on EA.

We are at an impasse and getting no where, so I ask to escalate this further, but...

This is the escalation team I am speaking with!

Oh, no!!!

And so with that I am now in a position where I need to make a complaint to Amazon because no one is taking responsibility for this fiasco or for putting it right.

So why am I here?

I guess to formally ask EA to sort it out and send me the pre-order code I was promised... but I have little faith they will.

No one seems to willing to take responsibility at all for this.

Between the pre-order fiasco and the technical issues Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has endured since launch I shall not be pre-ordering an EA game again.

I also shall not be pre-ordering any game through Amazon again either.

This has been an absolute palaver that has fortunately only cost me a few hours of my time to learn a valuable lesson.

    Hi all,

Unfortunately, we are at the moment not able to assist with orders that have been made via Amazon. If you have not received your Pre-Order & Deluxe Edition bonus codes from Amazon, and you think that you're eligible for this, please reach out to Amazon support to get assistance with this issue, as they are the ones who are distributing the codes.

Please also see our disclaimer regarding the extra content: https://www.ea.com/games/starwars/jedi/jedi-survivor/disclaimers.

    Thank you.

And of course, EA won't give a straight answer about supplying Amazon with more codes.

  • I am missing my preorder code for the Hermit Set, and I’ve been remarkably unsuccessful with finding a solution to the issue.

I’ve reached out to EA support and they state that EA is unable to verify Amazon purchases and that I need to reach out to Amazon.

Amazon states that I need to reach out to the manufacturer (EA).
Having pressed Amazon support further, I’ve  now reached out FOUR times, they claim that the promotion never existed for the product and that I need to either provide a screenshot of their website (Amazon US) advertising the promotion, which is not possible without a time machine.
Or I need to provide proof via a screenshot of an email from Amazon to someone else providing the code for this promotion.

Both Amazon and EA refusing to help, and Amazon claiming that no such preorder bonus existed, has barred progress. I do not know how to proceed.

Has anyone else purchased Jedi Survivor from Amazon in the United States and either been successful in acquiring a preorder bonus code, or experienced this degree of pushback from EA and Amazon?

I feel lied to by both Amazon and EA, and I’m starting to get pretty frustrated!

  • Amazon also refuses to provide a pre-order code. Upon reaching out to them, they claim no such pre-order promotion exists and that I need to contact the manufacturer. EA claims they can not verify purchases from Amazon and that they can not help.

I’m stuck and can’t get an answer from anyone.
  • I have also not received my pre-order bonus from Amazon, and when I reach out to their customer service, they claim that a pre-order promotion never existed for the game!

EA continuously states that I need to contact Amazon, and Amazon claims that there is nothing they can do without proof that the promotion was advertised ON AMAZON.COM when the game was pre-ordered.

I am incredibly frustrated by the ineptitude of both companies!

  • Update: I’ve now provided Amazon with a screenshot of their own website advertising the promotion using Wayback Machine, and they still claim the promotion doesn’t exist.

  • Update 2:

I’ve been refunded for the game and not required to return it. Can’t complain about a free game but boy do I wish I could cosplay Kenobi!

  • Returned mine. This whole mess spoiled my excitement for the game, Amazon deflecting to EA, EA deflecting to Amazon and we the customers get shafted. No thanks, shame though, game seemed fun. But if I'm not getting my preorder bonus, might as well work on my backlog instead until the price drops or just get an used copy.

  • Was able to go ahead and get my purchase refunded without having to return the game, as well. At least it communicates a message about how uncool this whole thing was.

  • Ordered jedi survivor pre order via Amazon. No promotional code was present at arrive. What options do I have to get my pre order promotional material?
