@suckerv To check can you try moving the camera around and moving around the side of the spamel friend to see if you get the trigger to tame it?

yep, did that. Walked all around, moved the camera around, nothing

I got tired waiting for a fix, so I started a new save instead. Worked as expected in that one... Such a shame these types of bugs.

  I REALLY don't want to have to start all the way over, but I may have no other choice. The most recent update did not fix it so I might have to do that. I'm going to be pretty annoyed if it happens on a new save file as well.
