Can’t use force slam

Playing on PS5 currently, and I can’t make the force slam ability work. I try and hold R1 and then press X but it doesn’t work. I reset the game. I reminded controls, and i did a few other things. Please reply with ways I could fix this. I don’t want a stupid glitch to be the reason I can’t finish the game.
